Acer Aspire One D260 Battery

The CR620’s maximum run time in idle is 275 minutes. But this 4:35 hours is only a guide, as it does not represent a realistic situation. The wireless module is activated, with the brightness on its lowest setting, and the processor does not have to work. No one uses its notebook like this.Acer TravelMate 2490 Battery

The battery life seems very weak, but in fairness, other notebooks with the same battery capacity cannot do much better either. For example, a Toshiba Satellite Pro S500-115 with a 48Wh battery manages 178 minutes. A Toshiba Qosmio F60 reaches 183 minutes with the same capacity. MSI’s miserliness when it comes to battery capacity is what is preventing this machine from achieving a better battery life.Acer Aspire 5684WLMi Battery

The CR620’s energy consumption is exemplary as it is very low. When the machine is in idle with nothing to do, and all energy-saving options are enabled (brightness on the lowest setting, wireless off), the idle energy consumption is 11.4 Watts. With less helpful energy settings (high performance mode) and the maximum brightness, the idle energy usage is 17.8 Watts. The battery was not recharging during these measurements.Acer Aspire 5683WLMi Battery

You can get more energy-efficient machines than this, like the Toshiba Satellite Pro S500-115 (9.5 Watts, 330M, Intel HD) or the Lenovo Thinkpad L512 2597-5VG (9.2 Watts, 330M, Intel HD). The maximum energy consumption, measured during the Prime95 and Furmark stress test, is 58.1 Watts. This means that the small 65 Watt mains adaptor (223g) is an appropriate size.Acer Aspire 5680 Battery

MSI CR620-i3525FDThe 15.6-inch MSI CR620-i3525FD is reasonably priced (from €470), but it has as many downsides as upsides. The first upside is the good performance of the Core i3-350M (2.26 GHz), which is apparently not hindered by only having 2 GB of RAM. Noise emission and temperature gain during normal office use are also very low, and even during heavy use the CR620 is cool enough to have on your lap.Acer Aspire 5650 Battery

Anyone who appreciates a good range of ports will be pleased to find an ExpressCard34 slot and an HDMI port along with the USBs. It is also good to see that most ports have been positioned on the back edge of the machine. This allows you to have a tidier desk space without cables sticking out to the left and right.Acer Aspire 5634WLMi Battery

The notebook’s downsides start with the workmanship and finish with the keyboard. You can’t escape that plasticky feel with the CR620, mainly because several pieces are not quite accurately cut and some cables can become visible. Office users may be able to overlook this given time, but not the rattly keys and the poor touchpad feedback. The keyboard flexes, some of the keys are tiny and the touchpad keys have virtually no travel. If you type a lot, we simply cannot recommend this machine for you. Acer Aspire 5633WLMi Battery

In addition, the poor battery life (due to the low battery capacity) along with the reflective screen with poor contrast make portable use of the laptop rather difficult. After two and a half hours the really quite chunky 15.6-inch machine has to return to a power socket. However, the CR620’s energy consumption is very low (11.4 Watts in idle) thanks to the Intel HD .Acer Aspire 5632WLMi Battery

Ports on the back of the machine. We didn’t think that laptop manufacturers still remembered their roots.A matt display and better keyboard would have done the CR620 a lot of favours. The touchpad buttons are just impossible.Touching allowed. The Touch notebook can’t decide if it’s for entertainment or technology enthusiasts. An ATI Hybrid Graphics, strong Core i5, 7200 rpm HDD are all oriented toward performance. The hand input function rounds out the whole package.Acer Aspire 5612WLMi Battery

HP Pavilion dv3-2390eg (VY336EA): 13.3 inch with touch inputThe whole world seems to be inspired by touch inputs.Acer Aspire 5612AWLMi Battery They are available in all-in-one PC displays, smart phones and in tablet PCs. Standard notebooks are less often the focus of some touch-enthused producers. After the 15.4 inch Acer Aspire 5745PG-5464G32Mnks with a touch panel, we’ve acquired the smaller 13.3 inch HP Pavilion dv3-2390eg (VY336EA). With its 1366 x 768 pixel glare type display, inputs can be entered by finger touch. In the spirit of an “entertainment notebook PC”, as the dv3 is referred to by the producer, there is plenty of entertaining software on board, most of which are educational or entertainment programs for children.Acer Aspire 5611ZWLMi Battery

We found out in this review whether or not the dv3-2390eg can operate other facets of a notebook. What about the mobile aspects and the input devices? Is a lame office box hidden beneath the pretty glossy design, or rather a high-performing, of a handy 13.3 incher? All the relevant information will be revealed in this review.Acer Aspire 5611AWLMi Battery

The HP dv3-2030rg comes on stage as a typical representative of the Pavilion-Designs.Acer Aspire 5610AWLMi Battery The design is the same as its big brother’s, the dv6 and dv7 (16 or 17 inch). The chrome-colored plastic of the sides surrounds the 13.3-incher and highlights the connection ports. Most notebooks tend to have simple black plastic here, as they aim to minimize the visual emphasis on the open spaces of the ports as much as possible. The Pavilion on the other hand has no problem with this and proudly shows off what it offers. The high-gloss finish might not be to everyone’s taste. Fingerprints and, after a while, dust become visible across the entire surface, even on the slightly shiny keys. The included polishing rag is therefore of utmost importance.Acer Aspire 5114WLMi Battery

The roundish impression suggests great stability, and this impression is confirmed. We could very slightly bend the base unit by holding the corners of the palm rest with both hands. However, the palm rest sits securely and we couldn’t dent the surface at any point. The lid is very thick (14mm). The strong frame provides high torsonal rigidity.Acer Aspire 5113WLMi Battery

By adding pressure, we could only dent the surface of the lid a bit in the middle. The very firm hinges carry on this good impression. They hold the heavy lid firmly in place, which is especially desirable considering the touch feature. When typing normally on the touch screen, the lid doesn’t open any further than is desired.Acer Aspire 5112WLMi Battery

The imprint finish on the lid and the palm rest has style and the moulded screened sheet above the keypad gives a high-quality impression.Acer Aspire 5102WLMi Battery The screened sheet founds off the back of the dv3 (including the stereo loud speakers). In terms of connection ports, HP did things right and invested in everything which could possibly fit into the limited space. In addition to three USB 2.0 ports, one of which is combined with eSATA, we found the bulk of connections on the right side of the case. The eSATA USB combo port is suitable for fast external hard drives. Those looking for more ports can use the ExpressCard34 extension port to upgrade with audio, tv or controller cards. This is not a given on every 13.3 incher. A card reader is also included, as well as HDMI and VGA. It also supports xD-Picture Cards.Acer Aspire 5102WLCi Battery

The network connection via cable or radio is modern, but nothing really special. The Realtek PCI Express GBE Family Controller (Gigabit LAN) and the Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN (DraftN) send and receive at the fastest standard rate. Though the manufacturer left out Bluetooth, this is compensated somewhat by a small infrared remote control. It can be housed in the ExpressCard/34 slot, but note recharged there.Acer Aspire 3690 Battery

HP included no data storage devices such as a driver/Software Recovery DVD. The box contains a remote control CIR (Consumer Infrared), the guarantee card, information on the hybrid graphics card and a quick-start guide. Users have to burn the recovery disk (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) themselves via the HP Recovery Manager (Tool for DVD creation).Acer Aspire 5101 Battery

The user can expect to find a variety of full versions included on the harddrive. These include the EasyBits Magic Desktop (for children), Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 and the CyberLink DVD Suite. Those who want to jump right into using the Touchpanel will surely play around a while with Bumptop, DigiFish Dolphin and the MegaTouch game package.Unlike the cheapest HP models (625 HP in the test, 12 months carry-in), the Pavilion offers a 24 months collect & return guarantee.Acer Aspire 5100 Battery

Writing with the keyboard is halfway pleasant. It sits firmly and bends only under excessive pressure over the optical drive. The keys have a clear pressure point, a good hub and a solid but slightly dull stroke. The typing feel is purposeful thanks to the generous keyboard layout and the pressure points give good feedback. Even the much criticized arrow keys on notebooks seem very large. The only drawback in typing is posed by the smooth surface of the keys. Over time, an ugly grease forms here which certainly isn’t consistent with the overall look.Acer Aspire 3690 Battery

The mouse control on the smooth mousepad works quite accurately, but the feel isn’t for everyone. Because the silver, patterned surface is mirror smooth, the surface gets quite greasy. If one exaggerates a bit, you get the impression that a tub of Nivea has been smeared all over it. Unfortunately, the equally smooth and shiny buttons continue this trend. They also give a loud, annoying click, as the key hub has been kept exceptionally taut. On the whole, this gives the keys pretty poor feedback.Acer Aspire 3104WLMiB80F Battery

We quickly came to terms with the finger input function and not even a fine-tuning (sensitivity, accuracy) was necessary. Even a very delicate touch of the buttons or a light double tap is enough to perform click/double-clicking. Whoever might want to use a Stylus Pen or a blunt pencil for input will be disappointed. The panel responds only to skin contact, even a finger nail or a pencil eraser has no effect.Acer Aspire 3104WLMiB80 Battery

We were able to install and carry out all the benchmarks and analysis tools using finger touch (except for games). Text input appeared on the screen. This is handled by Windows 7 with the onscreen keyboard. As soon as a box is touched, for example, the URL bar in the browser will open a small key icon which then opens the on-screen input function. Of course keyboard shortcuts such as Ctrl + C or Str + P can be initiated. How does a finger replace the right mouse key? When the finger touches the screen for a half second, a circle appears, and after lifting the finger, the context menu.Acer Aspire 3104WLMiB120 Battery

The so-called multi-touch, as we know it from smart phones or laptop touch pad, is also available on the panel. Now, two or even three fingers can be used. In the image viewer, we can zoom in by pulling or pushing two fingers. The rotation of two fingers turns a photo around. A wiping motion switches to the next screen, or scrolls down a Web site. With practice, highlighting specific texts is possible.Acer Aspire 3104 Battery

All this is known from the current smartphones like the iPhone and aren’t novelties anymore.Acer Aspire 3103 Battery Input on the screen works, there is no question about that. There is also no doubt that this type of input is the best input option for tablet PCs/convertibles and smartphones. The question of whether the touch option is most useful in the notebook form factor (without being a convertible) is one potential buyers will have to pose themselves. Still, it is less of a question of price as similarly configured 13.3 inchers without a touch panel cost at most 100 Euro less and go by names like Acer Aspire TimelineX 3820TG or Lenovo IdeaPad Z360 (soon to be in review).Acer Aspire 3102WLMi Battery

In terms of the display of a multimedia laptop, even if it is a 13.3-incher, two issues are important: resolution and contrast. Brightness matters a lot only in cases of outdoor use. The dv3 touch panel has a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels (WXGA). A higher resolution is not desirable for this form factor and wouldn’t be usual in this price range.Acer Aspire 3102NWLMi Battery

The dv3 disappointed fans of brilliant colors and high contrasts with its black level of 1.21 at maximum brightness. The contrast is calculated at only 150:1, a very low value. Black therefore has an understated gray appearance; colors don’t radiate particularly well. Such a low contrast is typical for office notebooks, netbooks, and unfortunately also for subnotebooks and respectively middle-class multimedia notebooks.Acer Aspire 3102 Battery

HP dv3-2390eg vs. HP Envy14 (N)In terms of the color space coverage, the display panel proves itself to be of the average sort. As a counter example we’ve compared it to the LP133WH1-TLA2 panel in the dv3 to the HP Envy LCD0E09 14. According to our measurements (i1Display 2), the LG-Philips panel covers just half of the Envy-color space (extended).Acer Aspire 3100 Battery

The brightness is important for applications in daylight. While 150 cd / m² is certainly enough for certainly for use on one’s desk, the average of 178 cd / m² we got was not enough for outdoor usage. Whoever wants to sit out on the patio will need at least 230 cd / m². The evenness of the illumination is very good at 87%, so that no spots (on a black screen) can be seen with the naked eye.Acer Aspire One D260 Battery

This dv3 is a notebook for the living room or the kitchen. The anti-glare 13.3 inch display produces heavy reflections. Due to the low brightness, the glare panel does nothing to adjust itself to the sun’s rays. In keeping with the minimal contrasts, the display therefore seems dark and washed out. But we didn’t notice that under heavy cloud cover, the setting in which the accompanying photos were taken.Acer Aspire One D255E Battery

FUJITSU SIEMENS ESPRIMO Mobile V6505 Battery

All in all we do not perceive the glasses required with all the 3D technologies to be ideal. Especially people who wear glasses will not be content with the “glasses over glasses” solution. On top of this the visible pictures are perceived as being darker due to the shutter glasses, compared to use without the glasses. FUJITSU SIEMENS ESPRIMO Mobile V6505  Battery

For casual gamers 3D in its current form is definitely a worth while experience, serious players will likely not go out of their way for it though. To stay competitive in a shooter using the 3D mode is almost impossible according to our first tests.Detailed information about Nvidia’s 3D Vision will shortly be covered by us in a special article.Asus A31-B43

With the Intel Core i7-720QM CPU and the Nvidia Geforce GTX 460M graphics card,Asus A32-K72 the Asus G53J certainly contains thoroughly potent components which catapult this 15 inch notebook into the upper range of the gaming league. Detailed information regarding the CPU can be found in our mobile processor comparison, with respect to the graphics card in our graphics card comparison, or on details of the Nvidia Geforce GTX 460M.Asus A32-N71

Indeed these are exactly the components that were shortly in the test of the G73JW. The only difference: the included RAM (8 GB DDR3 in the G53, and a whole 12 GB in the G73), as well as the included mass storage device (2x 750 GB @ 7200 RPM in the G53, and 2x 500 GB @ 7200 RPM – hybrid in the G73).Asus A32-K53

Thus the question whether or not the G53 is on a par with its bigger brother with respect to performance is at hand. The first results of the benchmark tests let a positive mood emerge. With 12156 points in the 3DMark 2006 test (1280×1024) and 7383 points in the 3DMark Vantage benchmark test, the G53 only lies marginally behind the results achieved by the Asus G73JW (12520/7366).Asus A32-N55

In the 3DMark 2006 Score test, the G53 is level with the shortly tested Toshiba X500 with 740QM CPU and GTX 460M graphics card (12124). Gaming devices with the ATI HD5870 graphics card are somewhat ahead and start at 12543 points (G73JH). ATIs Mobility Radeon HD5850 lags behind the GTX 460M and reaches up to 11530 points (MSI GX640).Asus A41-U36

In the Vantage test the G53 is barely behind the Toshiba Qosmio X500 (7517). Notebooks with HD5870 graphics card stay ahead, just as gamers with the HD5850 GPU are behind the GTX 460M chip.

The gaming suitability should therefore lie on a comparable level with the G73. How does this look when it comes to the application specific benchmarks, such as PCMark Vantage? Can the G73JW race ahead thanks to its potent amounts of RAM, or the fast hybrid hard drive combination?Asus A42-U36

Cards on the table; with 5570 points the tested G53 is still slightly behind the 17 inch Asus G73, which achieves 5804 points in this discipline. A glance at the individual ratings from the PCMark Vantage benchmark test show higher points in gaming, music, and HDD score (hybrid hard drive), which eventually lead to the better overall result.Asus A33-M50

A glance at our library shows the G53JW on a level with Lenovo’s office notebook T410 (620M/NVS3100M), which is similarly equipped to the Qosmio X500, but stays slightly behind the G53 with 5441 points.Asus a42-u31

New limits are set by the Asus G53JW in terms of storage capacity. The 15 inch case contains, as already the case of its 17 inch relative, space for two 2.5 inch hard drives. Asus has fitted two 750 GB hard drives from Seagate into our tested device. The ST9750420AS turns with 7200 revolutions per minute. On our tested device, the total storage capacity of 1.5 Terabytes was divided among four partitions. How this will be configured in detail for the final retail version is still not clear.Asus 90-NVA1B2000Y

In the HDTune benchmark test the ST9750420AS gives good results. Data transfer rates up to 108.7 MB/s, and access times from 17.1 milliseconds are definitely among the best for conventional hard drives.Asus 70-NF51B1000

Due to the already carried out benchmark tests the performance capabilities of the adopted Intel Core i7-720QM CPU and the GTX 460M graphics card from Nvidia are not unfamiliar. Asus A32-A8A comprehensive comparison can be found in our benchmark list of mobile processors, in our graphics card comparison, as well as in our games list for mobile graphics cards, which give a clear indication of how smoothly different current games can be played with certain settings and graphics cards.Asus A32-F80

In the case of the Asus G53JW at hand, we were much more interested as to how far the 3D function effects the potent components. Following is a comparison using several current games, which we benchmarked with and without activated Nvidia 3D Vision.Asus A32-F80A

Not only the performance interested us with the multi player shooter. How does a direct comparison in a shooter look with respect to the competitiveness using 3D images – disadvantage or perhaps a helpful cheat?Asus A32-F80H

Straight away after the first few exchanges of fire, we were already struck by dismay. We even had difficulties trying to overcome the first easy minutes of the game using the 3D mode with a low difficulty setting in single player mode. The optics were definitely attractive and compelling, the lack in precision however quickly led to aggravation.Asus L0690LC

On the performance side the Asus G53JW managed 68.9 frames per seconds on average in our 2D benchmark test (intro single player), using medium detail settings (1366,768, HBAO off, 1xAA, 1xAF) and 53.5 FPS using high presets (1366×768, HBAO of, 1xAA, 4xAF). The comparatively equipped G73JW was only able to achieve a marginally better 54.2 FPS in our tests. The Toshiba Qosmio X500 has a slight lead with 58.0 FPS, probably also due to the somewhat more powerful 740QM CPU.Asus NB-BAT-A8-NF51B1000

In 3D use the halving of the performance that takes place is to be expected, even if with only small deviations. Using medium detail level settings the G53JW offers 35.2 FPS on average, using high detail settings this was only 26.1 FPS. In the latter case this already led to some performance problems in the game. The following diagram depicts the frame rates in the test using different detail settings, with and without 3D images.Asus A32-F5

The current version of Call of Duty falls into the same category as BFBC2. With respect to playability the gaming performance in Battlefield can’t really be improved. The 3D effect can be described as less successful than with Battlefield. Nvidia also displays information regarding the 3D rating of the relevant game (“Excellent”), as well as the divergences that can be expected.Asus 90-NQY1B2000Y

With 73.2 FPS with medium details (1024×768, all on, medium, 2xAA) and 62.5 FPS with high benchmark settings (1366×768, all on, high,Asus 90-NGF1B1100 4xAA) the Asus G53 can get slightly ahead of the tested G73 (58.5 FPS, high). With attractive 3D display the frame rate quickly drops by about 50% as before. Using medium graphics settings the tested device then provides smooth 36.2 FPS on average, with demanding applications there is just enough room to play this game with 31.9 FPS.Asus A32-N50

After the discouraging results of the shooter genre, we also decided to try some representatives from the racing simulations games. Asus A33-N50 Following the installation of the Demo-Version we had to come to terms with a distorted menu, that was not correctly displayed three dimensionally through the shutter glasses. After the start of the game this fortunately changed, and we were able to glide across the country roads in 3D. The racing simulation is significantly better suited for using 3D images. The gaming experience can definitely be improved this way, and the competitiveness is not effected as much as was the case with the previously tested shooters.Asus A42-V1

Interestingly the performance reduction is not as extensive with Dirt 2 as with the previously tested games. Using medium details (1024×768, medium, 0xAA) the game offers 104.5 frames per seconds, and using high details gives 69.9 FPS, without 3D. With the 3D function activated, the frame rates drop to 56.8 FPS using medium details, and 40.0 FPS with high details.ASUS 90-NER1B2000Y

The performance of the adopted hardware is definitely on a par with the bigger Asus G73JW. The native resolution of the included display (1366×768) can be used for the highest details settings without problems. Merely hard nuts such as Metro 2033 can cause difficulties.ASUS A31-F9

Altogether the performance reserves of the GTX 460M graphics card are even sufficient for 3D representation reducing the frame rate by up to 50%, and still use high detail settings for current games with smooth enough frame rates.ASUS A32-F9

Regarding the practical gaming use of current 3D technology, this can be a contentious issue.ASUS A32-T13 Altogether this is also largely dependent on the particular game, as to what extent the 3D display provides for an improved gaming experience. Performance orientated gamers will likely opt to give the 3D technology a miss, since the 3D mode can easily be deactivated. Using 2D the Asus G53 is a potent gaming device that effortlessly keeps up with its bigger brother the G73JW. A slightly higher native resolution without 3D would have been favorable though.Asus A42-G70

The Asus G73 made a name for itself with its good cooling system, that kept the device comparatively cool under a high load, and above all also kept it quiet. A positive aspect in this respect was of course also the spacious case of the 17 inch notebook. Now the more compact G53 is subjected to our tests, and contains the same components as its bigger brother the G73.Asus 90-N10BT1220

Akku HP Pavilion dm4

During the LAPTOP File Transfer Test, the VAIO F duplicated 4.97GB of mixed-media files in 2 minutes and 38 seconds for a transfer rate of 32.2 MBps, slightly slower than the 36.2 MBps desktop replacement average. The P2532 and XPS 15 L502X tied with 33.3 MBps while the dv6t posted 30.1 MBps.Charger for HP COMPAQ nx8420

On the OpenOffice Spreadsheet test, the VAIO F took 5 minutes and 13 seconds to match 20,000 names to their corresponding addresses, 55 seconds behind the average. Still, it held on to beat out the XPS 15 L502X and the P2532, which clocked in at 5:14 and 5:27, respectively.Charger for HP COMPAQ nx9420

As a multimedia notebook, we expected the Sony VAIO F to have nice amount of get-up-and-go,Charger for HP COMPAQ 361909-001 and we weren’t disappointed. The notebook’s Nvidia GeForce GT 540M GPU with 1GB of VRAM scored 8,403 on 3DMark06, which failed to meet the 11,345 category average, but kept pace with the Gigabyte P2532 (8,816; Nvidia GeForce GT550M, 2GB of VRAM) and beat out the XPS 15 L502X (8,101), which has the same GPU. It also bested the Pavilion dv6t’s switchable graphics (Intel DH Graphics 3000, AMD Radeon HD 6490M), which scored 5,826.Charger for HP COMPAQ 361909-002

With the resolution at 1080p and effects set to Good in World of Warcraft, the VAIO F snagged a respectable frame rate of 74 fps. That’s nearly half of the 147 fps desktop replacement average, but only slightly below the P2532 (75 fps) and the XPS 15 L502X (88 fps). The dv6t scored 54 fps. It should be noted however, that the P2523 and the XPS 15 have 1080p displays, and the Pavilion dv6t has a resolution of 1366 x 768.Charger for HP COMPAQ 372771-001

We were also able to sync our Qriocity account between our PS3 and notebook.Charger for HP COMPAQ HSTNN-I04C

The VAIO F also comes bundled with a few multimedia-creation tools. With ACID Music Studio 8.0, we were able to create and import music tracks and mix to our heart’s delight, changing time signatures and adding faders. ReviewSpecifications. There has never been a better time to be in the market for a 7-inch tablet. From media tablets such as Amazon’s $199 Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble’s $249 new Nook Tablet to the myriad traditional Android slates out there, there have never been so many options. Charger for LENOVO G550M

Into that arena comes Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus,Charger for Lenovo IdeaPad U350 which offers the kind of functionality you’ve come to expect from Samsung’s larger Android tablets plus a little something extra. Buried in the side of the 7.0 Plus is an IR blaster that, when used in conjunction with the included Peel app, turns the device into a universal remote. Add to that a powerful dual-core processor and a combined 48GB of internal and external storage and you’ve got a serious contender on your hands. But is it worth $399?Charger for Lenovo IdeaPad U350W

Since the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Samsung has consistently offered some of the best-looking tablets this side of the iPad 2,Charger for Lenovo 3000 Y500 and the Tab 7.0 Plus is no different. The front features a sleek glass-covered black bezel surrounding the 7-inch touchscreen. When the device is held in portrait mode, you’ll find the Tab 7.0 Plus’ 2-megapixel front-facing camera up top. On the right side of the tablet are its power button and volume rocker. The Plus’ main attraction is an IR blaster that lets you use the device as a remote, though you’ll have to hold the tablet in landscape mode.Charger for Lenovo 3000 Y510

On the left side of the Plus is a microSD card slot, a nice addition that’s been missing from the rest of the Galaxy Tab lineup. A 30-pin connector port and two stereo speakers are located on the 7.0 Plus’ bottom lip, while the top is home to the tablet’s headphone port.Charger for Lenovo 3000 Y510a

Covering the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus’ back is the familiar charcoal-colored plastic casing done up to look like the brushed metal which all Galaxy Tabs now feature. The only adornments on the back of the tablet are its 3-MP camera and a single Samsung logo.Charger for Lenovo IdeaPad Y510

Weighing 0.8 pounds, the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is slightly lighter than both the 7-inch, 0.8-pound T-Mobile Springboard, as well as the 0.9-pound HTC Flyer. At 7.6 x 4.8 x 0.4 inches, the Galaxy Tab is also a hair slimmer than the Springboard (7.5 x 4.8 x 0.4 inches) and the Flyer (7.7 x 4.4 x 0.5 inches).Charger for Lenovo IdeaPad Y530

The 7.0 Plus also slightly undercuts the 0.9-pound Kindle Fire (7.5 x 4.7 x 0.5 inches), as well as the 0.9-pound Nook Tablet (8.1 x 5 x 0.5 inches) in both size and weight.Charger for Lenovo IdeaPad Y530a

Surprisingly, the 7.0 Plus is a bit bulkier than the 0.3-inch thick Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the 0.3-ich-thick Galaxy Tab 8.9. That could be attributed to the inclusion of both the microSD card slot and IR blaster, both of which aren’t included on either of the 7.0 Plus’ big brothers. The Vizio 8-inch Tablet, which like the Tab 7.0 Plus also sports an IR blaster, comes in at an unseemly 1.2 pounds and 0.5 inches thick.Charger for Lenovo IdeaPad Y710

Too bad Google hasn’t added Facebook to its People app yet. (Apparently there’s some behind-the-scenes bickering about APIs.) We prefer Windows Phone’s People hub, which leads with a stream of updates from multiple networks–including Facebook–and then lets you scroll through your contacts on the next screen.Charger for Dell Latitude D530 Battery

Another weakness of the People app: It doesn’t automatically link contacts with the same name in your address book, as HTC Android phones do. You need to click on a contact, then the Menu button, then Edit, then the Menu button again, then Join. And then you select the duplicate contact and repeat the process for however many instances there are of that person. Seriously.Charger for Dell Latitude D610 Battery

Face Unlock: There’s probably no easier way to unlock a phone than staring at it, and that’s exactly what Ice Cream Sandwich lets you do. Setting up Face Unlock under Settings was a cinch, but it only worked well when we had enough ambient light. If the Galaxy Nexus can’t read your mug, you’ll need to enter a PIN. We suspect many people will stick to swiping.Charger for Dell Precision M20 Battery

Android Beam: This feature won’t take off right away, but we like the idea. Provided your Ice Cream Sandwich phone has an NFC (Near Field Communications) chip, you can transmit info to other phones running the latest Android OS just by touching the two together. With Android Beam you can share anything from contacts and web pages to apps and YouTube videos. Beam will get even better once developers get their hands on Google’s code.Charger for Dell Studio 1440 Battery

Despite some holes and minor drawbacks, the Ice Cream Sandwich OS looks and feels highly evolved. Our hope is that Google’s partners will be more selective in how they decide to skin the OS.Charger for Dell Studio 1440n Battery

The keyboard in Android Gingerbread was already good, but the Samsung Nexus steps it up with improved auto correction and a new inline spell checker. We typed e-mail replies quickly and accurately, and we appreciated the light haptic feedback; it was reassuring without slowing us down.Charger for Dell Studio 14z Battery

We do have a few complaints. First, we’d like to see a .com button added to the layout when entering web addresses. And we wish the numbers in the top row weren’t so small and grayed out.Charger for Dell Studio 14zn Battery

Android 4.0 touts the ability to let you enter text with your voice in any field by simply tapping the microphone icon. Charger for Dell Mini 1012 N450 Battery In practice, the Galaxy Nexus was slow to process our commands–we saw a spinning circle–and on a few occasions the phone returned a No Matches Found error message. We experienced better results over Wi-Fi, but we still needed to enter punctuation and correct some errors. Voice Actions is still on board, but it’s nowhere near as advanced as Siri.Charger for Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 Battery

The Email and Gmail app continue to be separate, so you can forget about a unified inbox. On the plus side, though, the two apps have a very similar look and feel and offer welcome new features. For instance, you can now search your inbox without a data connection. You can also create canned responses for quick replies. If you tap the top of the screen, you’ll be able to quickly toggle between recent folders, such as Drafts and Sent.Charger for DELL Studio 1450 Battery

We do wish the Email app made the Forward and Reply All options viewable at all times. Instead, you need to tap the Menu button first. Annoyingly, you also need to manually add cc and bcc fields. If a message includes an attachment, you need to toggle from the Message view to the Attachment view, but it’s easy to find at the top of the message.Charger for DELL Studio 1450n Battery

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus features a 1.2-GHz dual-core TI OMAP4460 processor paired with 1GB of RAM. This is a different CPU than the Samsung 1.2-GHz Exynos processor inside the AT&T and Sprint Galaxy S II and the 1.5-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 chip inside the T-Mobile S II. We’re not sure why Google and Samsung went with this processor, but we’re not complaining.Charger for DELL Studio 1450R Battery

On our tests, the Galaxy Nexus was super smooth and responsive.Charger for Dell Inspiron 1210 Battery The phone consistently launched the App menu instantly and let us jump between apps (such as the browser and Fruit Ninja) in a second. Even with music playing in the background, the camera app opened in less than 3 seconds. The smartphone also delivered excellent graphics performance when we played Riptide GP. The action never stuttered, and we could make out detailed reflections in the rippling water.Charger for Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Battery

The Galaxy Nexus delivered excellent, but not best-in-class, benchmark results. For example, the device notched a CPU score of 3680 in the Benchmark app. That’s better than the Samsung Galaxy S II for Sprint (3,164) and the HTC Rezound (3,120) but slightly behind the Motorola Droid RAZR (3,802).Charger for Dell Inspiron 11z Battery

In An3DBench, which measures graphics performance, the Galaxy Nexus scored 7,802, which is lower than the SII (7,937) but beat the Droid RAZR (7,412) and the HTC Rezound (7,331).Charger for Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Battery

We then ran Quadrant, which measures CPU, I/O, and 3D graphics performance. Surprisingly, the Galaxy Nexus scored 1,963, compared to 2,452 for the Droid RAZR and an even higher 3,217 for the SII.Charger for Dell Inspiron Mini 1011 Battery

Android 4.0 offers an enhanced browser that lets you save pages for offline reading and request desktop versions of sites that automatically present a mobile version. Users can keep up to 16 tabs open, but they’re really more windows than tabs because you have to tap the top right of the screen to see these thumbnails.Charger for Dell Inspiron Mini 10v Battery

Over T-Mobile’s 21 Mbps HSPA+ network, the Galaxy Nexus loaded both mobile and full desktop sites quickly–when we had a strong signal. It took the phone between 3 and 4 seconds to load the mobile versions of CNN.com, ESPN.com, and NYTimes.com. And it took 13 seconds to load the full version of NYTimes.com, 15 seconds for CNN.com, and 9 seconds for ESPN.Charger for Dell Inspiron 1410 Battery

It took a second for the phone to fill in white space when zooming out, but overall the performance was snappy. The only thing missing is Flash support, which prevented us from playing videos on CNN and ESPN. Adobe says its mobile player is coming to Android 4.0 by the end of the year.Charger for Dell Vostro 1014 Battery

The Galaxy Nexus’s 5-megapixel camera is so speedy it’s almost scary. We fired off multiple shots in a row with zero lag. Even with the flash engaged, this smartphone captured shots very quickly. As a result, though, some pics appeared blurry because it didn’t seem like there was time for autofocus to kick in. The camera launches in about 3 seconds from the lock screen, which is decent.Charger for Dell Vostro 1015 Battery

Outdoor photos had good color saturation, but didn’t deliver as much detail as the 8-MP cameras on the iPhone 4S and the Galaxy S II. In one shot, we noticed some softness around the edges in buildings. Indoors, the camera flash often added a yellow-orange tinge to images.Charger for Dell Vostro A840 Battery

The Galaxy Nexus comes with a ton of tools for taking and enhancing photos. The Panorama mode is a cinch to use. And Android 4.0 also includes robust editing capabilities, from auto-fix and cropping to a wide range of special effects and tweaks. You can even adjust the fill light and saturation.Charger for Dell Vostro A860 Battery

As a camcorder, the Galaxy Nexus captures high-quality 1080p video, and even lets you snap 5-MP photos while you’re recording just by tapping the screen. Our clip of New York City traffic was smooth and detailed. We could make the phone number out on a back of a cab as it rolled by. Just be careful not to move to much when shooting, as it results in shaky footage.Charger for Dell Vostro A860n Battery

If you want to have more fun with your video, Android 4.0 includes lots of Live effects, including Silly faces that give your subject a squeezed head or really big eyes. dell vostro 1710 batteryYou can activate these same effects during Google video chats. The backgrounds, such as In Space and Sunset, didn’t work as well. We got blended into the background. Overall, the 1.3-MP front-facing camera captured clear video and crisp audio, but you need to make sure you have enough ambient light.Charger for dell vostro 1720 battery

With 300,000 apps at your disposal, the Android Market includes a wide variety of choices for Galaxy Nexus owners. We’re also glad to see that the game selection is getting better, with console-quality titles such as Riptide GP and Shadowgun moving up the charts. The engaging tile interface on the Market landing page makes the shopping experience more fun.Charger for Dell Vostro 1310 battery

As you would expect, Google bundles many of its own apps, from Gmail and Maps to Google+ and YouTube. The new Calendar app lets you pinch-to-zoom to better see your appointments for any given day or week. As with iOS, you can group similar apps together just by dragging and dropping them on top of each other, but you’ll need to name the folders yourself.Charger for Dell Vostro 1510 battery

Slowly but surely, Google is putting together an iTunes-like experience on Android. The new Google Music app lets you shop for tracks with the Galaxy Nexus and includes a free song of the day. We especially like how the lock screen shows the album art up top along with playback controls when you’re playing a song. You can also upload your music to the cloud for streaming to your device.Charger for Dell Inspiron 1545 battery

The Galaxy Nexus also offers access to three million digital books through the Books app, including The New York Times best sellers. Unlike on the iPhone, however, you won’t find a newsstand for magazines.Charger for dell xps m1530 battery

1CommentPrint 0 2Share To call HP’s 2560p an “ultraportable” is pushing it. It has a slightly smaller footprint than the Toshiba R830, with a screen size of 12.5 inches, but it’s heavier by more than a pound. With its power brick, you’re looking at more than five pounds, including a laptop Battery that protrudes a full inch from the back of the notebook’s body. This is no dainty package.Asus Z99H laptop Battery

Of course, it feels like a machine that can take its licks. HP likes to point out that the notebook is designed and tested to meet Mil-Spec standards for drops, temperature shock, and altitude changes, among other stressors.Asus Z99Fm laptop Battery

Nestled within the 2560p’s island keyboard is a pointing stick (a la Lenovo’s ThinkPads), Asus Z99 laptop Batterywhich, along with an additional set of right and left mouse buttons below the spacebar, lets you control the cursor without moving your hands from the keys. It’s a nice feature for folks who roll that way, but if you’re partial to using a touchpad, you might resent how the additional mouse buttons encroach on the pad’s surface area. We also found horizontal and vertical scrolling on the touchpad to be erratic. Asus X80Z laptop Battery

Aluminum-alloy hinges, titanium-alloy display latches, and a rubber bumper around the screen are just some of the touches that make the HP 2560p good for rough-and-tumble computing.Asus X80N laptop Battery

In performance, the 2560p is solid. It features a 2.6GHz Intel Core i5-2540M to the Toshiba’s 2.7GHz Intel Core i7-2620M, and the two trade benchmarks win within fairly close proximity, save Premiere Pro, where the HP was 21 percent faster than the Toshiba. Like the Toshiba, the HP features single-channel RAM and thus scored lower than our zero-point in Quake III.Asus X80Le laptop Battery

Upgrading the HP 2560p is supremely easy, as the entire underside slides off without removing a single screw. Inside, you’ll find a 2.5-inch drive bay presently occupied by a 160GB SSD, an empty RAM slot, and an open Mini PCIe slot.Asus X80 laptop Battery

Another nice feature is the Elite Premium Support that comes included with the purchase of this notebook. It entitles owners to free 24/7 tech support from a dedicated Elite team, although it’s anyone’s guess what happens to that should HP actually spin off its computer division.Asus N81Vp laptop Battery

In our laptop Battery rundown test, the 2560p lasted four and a half hours playing a video file in a continuous loop. That’s a decent runtime, but a far cry from the Toshiba’s showing.Asus N81Vg laptop Battery

With its sturdy build, strong performance, and upgrade-friendliness, the HP 2560p is certainly appealing. But when it comes to performance and portability, we’re partial to the Toshiba R830’s lighter carry weight, longer laptop Battery life, and lower price.Asus N81 laptop Battery

Our zero-point ultraportable is an HP EliteBook 2540p with a 2.13GHz Intel Core i7-640LM, 4GB of DDR3/1333 RAM, integrated graphics, a 250GB, 5,400rpm hard drive, and Windows 7 Professional 64-bitAsus N80Vn laptop Battery

PCs make great Blu-ray players, but Acer’s Revo RL100-UR20P is the first Blu-ray-equipped PC we’ve seen that’s thinner and smaller than most purpose-built Blu-ray players. If it played high-definition audio discs such as SACD and DVD-Audio, it would be one of the most powerful Blu-ray players on the market, but this machine isn’t that ambitious.Asus F8P laptop Battery

It is, on the other hand, considerably less expensive than very high-end Blu-ray players that are capable of playing those high-definition audio formats. The Oppo BDP-95, for example, sells for $999 and is almost never discounted.Acer’s Revo RL100-UR20P is so sexy you won’t want to hide it in your entertainment center.Asus F8 laptop Battery

The Revo RL100-UR20P is street-priced at just $550. That’s a compelling price for a home-theater PC with 3D capabilities, 4GB of DDR3 memory, a 750GB hard drive, integrated 802.11n, and a wicked wireless keyboard that doubles as an oversized wireless trackpad.Asus F80S laptop Battery

Just don’t expect to use the Revo RL100 for content creation, video transcoding,Asus F80Q laptop Battery or much else besides watching movies, streaming media, and playing the least demanding of games. Outfitted with AMD’s dual-core Athlon II Neo K325 running at 1.3GHz, integrated graphics in the form of Nvidia’s Ion GPU, and DDR3 memory creeping along in single-channel mode at just 667MHz, this rig will never be mistaken for a powerhouse.Asus F80L laptop Battery

But this machine runs as silent as a tomb, and you’ll barely notice its impact on your electric bill:Asus F80Cr laptop Battery It drew 22 watts at idle and power consumption increased to just 32 watts while playing a Blu-ray disc. We encountered no issues streaming high-definition Netflix movies and YouTube videos. The QWERTY keyboard magically appears on the surface of the trackpad—you won’t have a problem using this remote in a darkened home theater.Asus F80 laptop Battery

The Revo can disappear inside your entertainment center, where it will operate either horizontally or vertically when mounted to its weighted stand.Asus A8Tm laptop Battery It has one USB 2.0 port with a tethered cover in front, along with a media card reader. There’s a tiny indicator light near the power button, and a red LED flashes when the computer receives input from the trackpad/keyboard. The back panel is similarly bare, with an optical S/PDIF, single HDMI port, Ethernet, two more USB 2.0 ports, and a mic input and headphone jack.Asus A8Tc laptop Battery

Review Hp CQ40 Battery

OutdoorsThe screen’s legibility suffers due to the reflective surface outdoors. The tablet would have needed considerably higher screen brightness so that a bit of the content is visible in direct sunlight. Not much of the content can be seen when the sun shines directly onto the screen. The screen content can again be seen in the shade, but intense reflections are still an issue here, too.HpCQ40 Battery

While notebooks usually come with low-cost TN screens,HpCQ41 Battery the more expensive IPS (in plane switching) screens are used in tablets. The difference between both screen types can be seen in the viewing angles at first glance. While TN screens only have constrained viewing angles, the image can be seen on an IPS screen virtually from every angle. Before the image on the touchscreen is distorted, the reflections on the display make it impossible to see anything on it.HpCQ45 Battery

The Nvidia Tegra 250 is not a processor in the usual sense, but a SOC (system on a chip).HpCQ50 Battery The Tegra 250’s system is made up of a dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor, a GeForce ULP graphics card, a DDR2 memory controller, video encode and decode processors, an audio processor and an ARM7 core for management functions. The Cortex A9 dual core processor serves as the calculating processor. It has a clock of 1.0 GHz. Although the Cortex processor’s computing power per MHz is lower than comparable x86 processors (for example, Intel Atom, AMD C series), a well modified operating system can compensate this difference.HpCQ60 Battery

A GeForce ULP graphics takes care of video output. HpCQ61 BatteryAccording to rumors, it’s allegedly based on the GeForce 7 series. The GeForce ULP graphics card has 8 cores (4 pixels, 4 Vertex shaders). Since the graphics card doesn’t have a dedicated memory, it uses a part of the main memory (shared memory). It is also possible to operate two simultaneous outputs with the GeForce ULP. A maximum resolution of 1920×1080 pixels can be transmitted via the HDMI out, while the internal LCD can be used with a maximum resolution of 1680×1050 pixels.HpCQ70 Battery

The processor’s possible clock ratesThe processor hardly ever reaches the full clock rate of 1.0 GHz.HpCQ71 Battery It isn’t put under such high load most of the time. The processor usually clocks with 216 MHz during normal use, for example Internet surfing. The clock rate of 1.0 GHz is only reached when the processor is put under load, i.e. a 1080p Full HD video or a complex game. Of course, the battery life benefits from this. The lower the processor is clocked, the less power it consumes.HP G50 Battery

The Toshiba AT100 doesn’t achieve any top rankings in the first benchmark, Browsermark, but it also just skids by the third place. The achieved 87538 points aren’t enough to beat the Motorola Xoom (Android 3.0, Tegra 250) after all. Nevertheless, the Toshiba tablet is definitely impressive.HP G60 Battery

The tablet can also mingle in the front field in the Google V8 benchmark. With 665 points, it only scores slightly poorer than the Asus Eee Tab Transformer TF101 (Android 3.0, Tegra 250). The Toshiba AT100 starts to falter in the Quadrant benchmark and drops to the last place with 1523. The result hardly changes despite several runs.HP G61 Battery

The tablet can catch up again in the Smartbench benchmark: It is again in the front third with 2390 points in the productivity benchmark and 2672 points in the game index. The AT100 manages a score of 2190 milliseconds in the Sunspider benchmark. It is therewith minimally slower than most other Tegra 2 processors, but still is at the front. HP G70 Battery

The last benchmark that the Toshiba AT100 had to pass was the Linpack for Android benchmark. The tablet reached a score of 54833 points here. Thus, the Toshiba AT100 is the number one in this benchmark. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v (Android 3.0, Tegra 250) has been dethroned here. HP G71 Battery

Overall, the Toshiba AT100 delivered a satisfactory amount of performance, which is actually sufficient for all applications that can be executed on a tablet.HP dv4 Battery

Users who want to watch a video on the move have two options installed directly on the Toshiba AT100. First, there is the Google Player and second, a player from Toshiba. Both players managed most of our test clips decently. The sound and not the picture was rendered in merely one .avi file. HP dm4 Battery

Beyond that, the HDMI jack proves to be very handy especially in entertainment matters. Simply connect the HDMI cable to the TV and the tablet’s image is copied – on the TV of course and in the full resolution (up to 1920×1080 pixels). This enables showing home movies and YouTube videos or even playing a game on the TV.HP dm3 Battery

Tablet as a Games Console

The vast offer of the Android market naturally includes games. They range from simple, free board or card games up to complex, fee-based 3D games. The Toshiba AT100 is well-equipped for games with its hardware. We looked at a few of these games during the test and didn’t establish any problems. HP dm3t Battery

As mentioned in the beginning, the American version of the tablet still had teething problems which caused the tablet to crash frequently, among other problems. Hardly any of that was noticed on our model. The tablet ran stably almost throughout the entire test period. Apps hardly ever aborted when opened or froze. A lot has been done here.Hp CQ20 Battery

After turning on the tablet for the first time, the number of apps is still limited. In addition to the standard apps, such as browser, Google, mail, the Android market, Google Maps, etc., there is Toshiba’s File Manager, Toshiba’s online manual, Toshiba’s Places client, McAfee WaveSecure, Evernote, Adobe Reader and Toshiba’s media player are found on the tablet.HP dm3z Battery

Since no movable parts, such as a fan or HDDs, have been built into the Toshiba AT100, the tablet works absolutely noiselessly. The only noise that we noticed during the test was the power adapter’s quiet hum.HP Hp2230s Battery

The tablet hardly increases its temperature when idling. The maximum temperature on the screen side is 28.2 degrees Celsius, while the flipside’s maximum temperature is 26.4 degrees Celsius. The temperatures increase slightly during load. The front now has a maximum temperature of 31.1 degrees Celsius. HP 4405 Battery

Since a tablet is held in the hand during use, it is vital that it doesn’t get too hot. The Toshiba AT100 can score in this exercise without difficulty.HP 4405s Battery

Both speakers on the tablet’s left aren’t a sound sensation. They are comparable with low-end notebook speakers. They lack bass and the sound makes a somewhat tinny impression. However, they suffice to play games, surf on the Internet or watch movies on the go. When a movie is transmitted to the TV at home, the TV’s speakers or a sound system can be used because the HDMI out also transmits the audio signal.HP 4406 Battery

Thanks to the economic components, the Toshiba AT100 Android tablet achieves consumption rates that notebooks can only dream of. However, the Toshiba AT100 is a tablet and not a laptop. Compared to other tablets, the consumption rates only look moderate: It is on a par with the competition in view of 1.6 watts – 4.8 watts in idle. It is a bit more saving than the average during load with 5.5 watts – 6.3 watts.HP 4406s Battery

It’s partly not easy to make a clear statement about the battery life because the screen has to be tapped every 30 minutes in standby so that the device doesn’t switch to sleep mode. This can hardly be managed during a normal test day with devices that have a battery life of over 10 hours.HP 4410s Battery

The full load assessment proves to be easier. The Toshiba AT100 manages a battery runtime of 4 hours and 15 minutes here. The result of video playback via YouTube is similar (wifi on, brightness 50%). The tablet reaches a battery life of 4 hours and 23 minutes here.HP 4411 Battery

The Toshiba AT100 proves to be a fit Android tablet.HP 4411s Battery Thanks to the Tegra 250 processor, the tablet is up to pretty much every task that is in line for a tablet. Although the tablet doesn’t reach the top, there’s not much missing, either. We particularly liked the Toshiba AT100 as an entertainment tablet. It is well suitable to play games from the Android store or watch videos on the go. However, the videos look a lot better when the tablet is connected to a TV. HP 4412 Battery

Buyers get a very good Android tablet with the Toshiba AT100 for a current street price of 379€. However, the device not only excels. In order to accomplish this price for the tablet, Toshiba has made cutbacks on the case. While the competition often relies on an aluminum case, a plastic case is used on the Toshiba tablet. The software problems of the primary US models on the market were hardly noticed.HP 4412s Battery

MSI proudly advertises the Dynaudio speakers of its GX660R. The sound quality is truly better than that of most other notebooks. There’s even a small subwoofer built in at the back to proverbially pump up the bass. However, other companies have tried this before MSI with the same result. asus u31jc Battery

The bass notes do actually ring clearer, but not by much. Just by looking at the size subwoofer, it’s easy to tell that it won’t significantly change the quality of the bass. Still, the sound that comes out of the GX660R makes a good impression. Moreover, the volume can be turned up a good deal before it sounds distorted. It’s therefore possible to play music or watch a movie without having to hook the notebook up to external speakers.asus u31jg-xa1 Battery

The battery life turns out to be quite short as expected. But as far as gaming notebooks go, the expectations for battery life are never very high. In the Readers Test from BatteryEater (min. screen brightness, energy saving settings on), the GX660R manages to stay on for just over 3 hours (189 minutes). asus u31sd-rx001 Battery

This should be enough to get some office work done.asus u31sd-rx034v Battery Under heavy use (BatteryEater Classic Test), the notebook shuts off after little over an hour (67 minutes). Having the turbo mode on doesn’t shorten the battery life by much, which dropped to 62 minutes. From the level of noise during the Classic Test, we could tell that the notebook wasn’t running at full capacity so that the battery life could actually be even shorter when playing games on the GX660R.asus u31sd-rx036v Battery

For our DVD test we played the film, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. At 217 minutes, it’s pretty long as far as movies go. The battery life of 109 minutes in this case allows you to only reach the middle of the film. When using the GX660R for surfing the internet, you can count on a battery life of a bit more than two hours, (137 minutes). asus u31sd-rx037v Battery

Looking at the power consumption of the notebook, asus u31sd-rx072r Battery it’s no surprise why the 9-cell, 87 Wh battery only keeps the notebook running for little over an hour under heavy use. That is, the MSI GX660R uses up to 150 watts when it’s under heavy stress. Even in idle mode, the GX660R still consumes about 50 watts. Compare this to a typical office notebook, which uses about 20 to 30 watts under normal use. At any rate, you shouldn’t get too far away from a power outlet when using the MSI GX660R.asus u31sd-rx101v Battery

The MSI GX660R has demonstrated an overall patchy performance.asus u31sd-rx159d Battery The notebook definitely proves itself to be a powerful competitor as far as gaming goes, running current releases with no problem at all. Its overall impression is, however, tarnished by the disappointingly flimsy keyboard. Other manufacturers, however, seem to manage to fit their gaming notebooks with decent keyboards. In the end, the keyboard plays a more important role than the touchpad, which is usually replaced by a mouse in any case.asus u41jc Battery

The overly loud cooling system takes away from the overall rating. The turbo mode seems unnecessary considering how loud the notebook gets. On the other hand, the MSI GX660R scores some points with its powerful performance, good speakers and sleek design. The GX660R is well suited for future games and can definitely attract some jealous looks at your next LAN party.asus u41jf Battery

If you’re thinking about purchasing the MSI GX660, keep in mind that the gaming notebook’s 9-cell battery does not contribute to a long battery life and it’s always best to have a power outlet near-by. Other than that, the notebook has shown that it can make quite a lot of noise, either with its nice speaker system or—less pleasantly—with its cooling system. asus u41jf-wx089 Battery

Price conscious all-rounder. Fujitsu tries to prove that strong multimedia notebooks don’t have to cost around 1000 euro right away, with the Lifebook AH530. A new Intel dual core CPU and a mysterious ATI Radeon HD 550v GPU are the ingredients for this purpose.asus u41sv-wx049d Battery

Currently, three different Lifebook AH530 models are available in Germany. asus u41sv-wx050d BatteryThe AH530MF072DE has the best price and already goes over the counter for around 590 euro. The buyer gets a four GB DDR3 RAM and a 320 GB hard disk aside an Intel Pentium P6100 processor for this price. For a surcharge of merely 40 euro, you can buy the AH530MF112DE that we reviewed. It also has a four GB DDR3 RAM and a 250 GB HDD. However, it can serve with the significantly stronger Core i3-370M (2.40 GHz) as the processor.asus u41sv-wx051v Battery

And finally, the current top model, AH530MF122DE, adds up to a price of about 830 euro.asus u41sv-wx056v Battery While the RAM capacity remains unvaried, the hard disk size increases to 500 GB. Further configuration features are a Core i5-460M processor with 2.53 GHz and a built-in Blu-Ray player. All models have the graphics card in common: ATI’s Mobility Radeon HD 550v promises enough power for casual gamers. If you’re not dependent on a dedicated graphics card, you might also be content with the Lifebook A530 (without an “H” in the name). You can find the corresponding review on our site.Asus U41JF-A1 Battery

High-gloss finishWe would describe the Lifebook AH530’s design as chic.Asus U31SD-A1 Battery Fujitsu unexceptionally uses black plastic surfaces in a piano lacquer look, which make a fairly elegant impression. This remark however only applies when the notebook is perfectly polished. That is, the sensitive high-gloss surfaces tend to smudge intensely. Fingerprints and dust particles soon have the upper hand. The 15.6 inch and 378 x 252 x 39 mm sized case can make up for this imperfection with its pleasant weight. The Lifebook AH530 can be carried around easily with about 2.5 kg.Asus u53jc-xx108v Battery

Another of the Lifebook AH530’s strengths is its exceptionally good workmanship.Asus u53jc-xx086v Battery No flaws could be found even as we looked closer. At least the base unit’s stability is convincing. The notebook’s top and bottom side only yield slightly even under strong pressure. The lid could have done with more stability. Pressure on the display bezel quickly leads to image errors. Finally, the hinges do a good job. The display is kept well in position on vibrating surfaces. However, the hinges are pulled very tight so that the base unit lifts when opened.Asus u53jc-xx049x Battery

You shouldn’t expect a lavish scope of supplies to come with the Lifebook AH530. Asus u53jc-a1 BatteryFujitsu restricts itself to the most important interfaces. Firewire, eSATA or USB 3.0 ports are looked for in vain. While the rear is completely unfettered from connections, there is a multi-in-1 cardreader, as well as a headphone and microphone socket installed on the front. A USB 2.0 port, a Kensington lock and the power socket follow on the rightAsus u53jc Battery

Fujitsu has however placed most connections on the left side.Asus u53j Battery Aside from an RJ-45 LAN port and a VGA, respectively HDMI out, there are two additional USB 2.0 ports (a total of 3 USB 2.0 ports) found on the left. A 54mm ExpressCard slot finishes the side off. However, it is placed so unfavorably that it could obstruct the ports in its vicinity. Basically, we consider the port distribution as partly well-considered. Particularly the HDMI out and the USB ports are located very far front.Asus u53f Battery

Wireless communication is no problem with the Lifebook AH530. Fujitsu has remembered both Bluetooth (version 2.1) as well as WLAN (802.11 b/g/n).Otherwise, the notebook can serve with a built-in microphone and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. There is no fingerprint scanner.Asus u53 Battery

In opposition to many other big manufacturers like Sony, Toshiba, Acer or Asus, Fujitsu doesn’t clog its Lifebook AH530 extensively with superfluous software. Except for the necessary drivers and a few Fujitsu programs, the system is fairly clean (see screenshot). There are hardly any popups and the performance is already impressive in the state of delivery.Asus u52f-bbl5 Battery

Beyond that, Fujitsu deserves praise for the scope of supplies. A recovery DVD with the operating system (Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit) isn’t a matter of course anymore. Additionally, Fujitsu adds a driver and tool DVD (with the manual) and a few info brochures to the 15 incher.Asus u52f Battery

The warranty period for the Lifebook AH530 is 24 months. It is a Collect & Return service.cAsus u52 Battery

Fujitsu has done good, even if not overwhelming, work with the keyboard.Asus u43sd-wx024v Battery The perfect layout and the good key size (16×16 mm), with exception of the arrow keys, have to be mentioned positively. We found the typing noise very agreeable. It’s neither loud nor clattery. Despite the restricted room, Fujitsu has even accommodated a separate number pad. In return, the keyboard has to accept reproach for the slightly too narrow key gaps and the quite spongy typing feel. In our opinion, the pressure point and stroke isn’t sufficiently defined.Asus u43sd-wx007v Battery

The touchpad (can be disabled) has for some unexplainable reason turned out extremely small. Asus u43sd Battery Due to its size of merely 64 x 35 mm, a frequent re-positioning of the finger is required. However, this problem can be minimized by increasing the mouse velocity. The absence of a practical multi-touch control costs even more points in rating. On the other hand, the smooth surface has to be mentioned positively. It grants good gliding traits. The touchpad doesn’t show any weaknesses in terms of precision, either. Beyond that, we’ve nothing to complain about with both touchpad keys. The responsiveness is absolutely convincing.Asus u43jc-x1 Battery

The customer is given the standard display fare. The 15.6 inch display has a screen diagonal of 39.60 cm and includes an LED backlight. The resolution of 1366×768 is common for a 15.6 inch device. However, you will at latest wish for more desktop when several windows are opened at the same time. In return, a resolution of 1366×768 doesn’t demand too much power and thus doesn’t overly exert the graphics card.Asus u43jc-wx139v Battery

Asus A32-K72

The GeForce GT 425M looks good in the graphics benchmarks. Asus 90-NVA1B2000Y For example, it is on par with its most serious rival, the extremely successful Radeon HD 5650, in the GPU score of the latest 3DMark Vantage. Whilst the Nvidia card achieves 2699 points, the ATI card reaches an average of 2731 points. In the Unigine Heaven 2.1 benchmark, which make massive use of DirectX 11 effects and tessellation, the GeForce GT 425M can surpass the Radeon HD 5650 slightly: 10.9 to 10.0 fps is an advantage of 9%.Asus AP31-1008HA

The Clevo B5130M barebone only has room for one hard disk. Asus AP32-1008HAWe opted for a 500 GB HDD with 7200 rpm – the value for money ratio is still an unobjectionable choice. The Seagate ST95005620AS that Schenker installs was very impressive with a very good transfer rate of 81.2 MB/s in the test (HD Tune). Moreover, CrystalDiskMark assesses a sequential read speed of 84.26 MB/s and a sequential write speed of 88.68 MB/s for the HDD – both above average rates. The access rate of 16.5 ms is within the usual range.Asus 70-NL51B1000

The mySN XMG A500’s application performance is throughout attractive. Intel’s efficient Core iX squad adapts itself perfectly to the individual situation with assistance from intelligent features, like Turbo Boost or Hyperthreading. Nvidia’s GeForce GT 425M is a good complementation. The given performance should suffice the average user completely. If required, cutting-edge SSD or hybrid hard disk solutions speed up Windows routine additionally.Asus 70-NL51B1000M

The GeForce GT 425M could already prove that it’s usually strong enough to present current games in medium to high details in a resolution of 1366×768 in the Acer Aspire 5745DG review. But what about the mySN XMG A500’s native resolution of 1600×900? We’ll elucidate this question in the following:Asus 70-NL51B2100

Despite moderate hardware requirements, the mySN XMG A500 has quite a bit to chew in the gangster epic, Mafia 2. The GeForce GT 425M is already overburdened with medium details and 8x AF in the native resolution. 22.2 fps aren’t enough for a smooth image set up. In opposition, even high details and 16x AF are possible in the resolution of 1366×768. Mafia 2 runs fairly smooth with 26.5 fps. Asus 90-NL51B1000

If you want to enjoy Blizzard’s strategy hit in the native resolution, you should use the medium detail level. We could determine an adequate 29.2 fps in the intro “For the Swarm”. In return, if you reduce the resolution to 1366×768 you can even try high details (25.0 fps). Asus A32-V2

The popular multi-player shooter pushes the GeForce GT 425M to the rim of its performance limits. Bad Company 2 proves to be fairly smooth in the resolution of 1600×900 only in low details (28.7 fps). It’s at least still playable if you select a resolution of 1366×768 in medium details (30.6 fps).Asus A33-V2

To race over the virtual laps in high graphic details in the latest Need for Speed sprout adequately, a resolution of 1366×768 would be recommended (31.2 fps with 4x AA). At least medium details in the native resolution grant a smooth race experience (35.5 fps).Asus 70-NF51B1000

Whilst the popular first person shooter’s multi-player mode is currently tormented by a massive cheater emergence, the GeForce GT 425M sooner has problems with a smooth frame rate. Thus, Modern Warfare 2 only runs acceptably smooth with medium details in the native resolution (27.0 fps). First when a lower resolution is used, e.g. 1366×768, can you expect high details from the mySN XMG A500 (26.3 fps with 4x AA). Asus 70-NRH1B1000PZ

The unofficial Gothic 3 successor from Piranha Bytes isn’t exactly palatable to the mySN XMG A500. No matter if in high details and 4x AF in a resolution of 1366×768 (22.0 fps) or medium details and a resolution of 1600.900, the German role game can’t be persuaded to a continuously smooth image set up.Asus 70-NRH1B1100Z

The atmospheric first person shooter from the Ukrainian developers, 4A Games, forces even seasoned gaming notebooks to their knees with exorbitant hardware requirements. In view of this, it’s not very surprising that the GeForce GT 425M can’t cope even with lowest details settings in a resolution of 1600×900. A meager 21.6 fps speak for themselves.Asus 90-NF51B1000

The football simulation, blessed with excellent sales figures, was the only game in our list where all quality settings could be set to full. We could measure a respectable 75.5 fps in high details and 4xAA in the resolution of 1600×900.Asus A23-A8

As the recent past has shown, the chic race game, Dirt 2, harmonizes perfectly with GeForce 400 series’ graphics cards. Nevertheless, the GeForce GT 425M is overburdened in a resolution of 1366×768 with high details and 2x AA. We recorded 24.9 fps in the integrated benchmark. We recommend medium details for the native resolution. Dirt 2 runs pleasantly smooth with 37.6 fps.Asus A32-A8

The first person shooter, Crysis, still craves for a lot of graphics power even after three years. The GeForce GT 425M is clearly affected by this circumstance. Crysis’ jitters first stopped in the native resolution when medium details were used (27.0 fps in the GPU benchmark).ASUS K93 Battery

The relatively positive gaming verdict that we made about the GeForce GT 425M in the Acer Aspire 5745DG is only applicable to an extent in the mySN XMG A500. ASUS K93S BatteryThe combination of a DDR3 VRAM and a 128bit memory link advanced to the limiting factor that restricts the performance considerably in resolutions beyond 1366×768. Whilst the GeForce GT 425M sometimes managed well in the resolution of 1366×768, it often came to an end in a resolution of 1600×900 with medium or even low details. Quality enhancements, like antialiasing, generally shouldn’t be used.ASUS K93SV Battery

In this context, the display’s good interpolation capabilities come into play. ASUS U46 Battery It doesn’t allow a reduction in resolution to turn into a blurry affair – the image remains surprisingly focused. Basically, the mySN XMG A500 has rather been conceived for less demanding gamers who don’t have the need to experience every new game in maximum details. Those who aren’t prepared to make compromises in terms of graphics quality should preferably look at gaming notebooks with high-end graphics cards, such as the Radeon HD 5870 or GeForce GTX 460M.ASUS U46E Battery

As many other Clevo barebones, the mySN XMG A500 suffers under a quite high noise development. Although the case fan often works silently in normal modes (office, internet, video, etc.), it can sometimes abruptly turn up to a noticeably audible level. In comparison, the hard disk attracts attention with a constant noise.ASUS U46J Battery

The optical drive can’t exactly be called a pussyfooter either. A clear whirring is heard during DVD playback. The noise level increases to a very audible level under load (3D applications). Quieter game sequences are drowned out by the fan. We however found the mySN XMG A500 as really disturbingly loud under full load. We measured almost 50 dB(A) at a distance of 15 cm.ASUS U46JC Battery

Note: The pleasantly small 90 watt adapter emitted an annoying clack noise for a while after the notebook was turned on. When the mySN XMG A500 ran for a while, the noise however disappeared again.ASUS U46S Battery

At least the mySN XMG A500’s temperature development was alright in idle mode. Both the notebook’s top and bottom side stayed within an acceptable range with a maximum of 33°C. The same applies for the components, graphics card and processor, which settle at a temperature below 40°C – a perfect result.ASUS U46SD Battery

In return, the case surfaces heat up strongly under load. Whilst the wrist-rest’s area on the top heat up to 43.2°C, it’s even partly up to 50.1°C on the bottom. It quickly gets uncomfortable when the notebook is placed on the lap with such temperatures. The Core i5-580M and GeForce GT 425M also get relatively warm after longer full load (Furmark + Prime). But 81°C for each can’t yet be seen as critical.ASUS U46SV Battery

Besides the noise development, the sound quality is one of the mySN XMG A500’s biggest weaknesses.ASUS U56 Battery Both loudspeakers, hidden on the notebook’s bottom front area, unfortunately only supply a moderate sound. Thus, all pitches seem quite muffled, blurry and unnatural. The lack of a subwoofer is noticed in a very weak bass. The maximum volume is rather limited. In short: You should connect external loudspeakers so that music, movies and games don’t lose atmosphere, in any event.ASUS U56E Battery

The included six cell battery (62.16 Wh), together with Nvidia’s Optimus technology, provides for good runtimes remote from the mains. Up to 4.5 hours are possible when the incorporated graphics unit (GMA HD) is enabled and when the minimum brightness and maximum energy savings options are used. In opposition, the runtimes settles at three hours when the brightness is increased to maximum and medium energy savings options are selected.ASUS U56J Battery

Wireless movie entertainment isn’t an unknown term for the mySN XMG A500 either.ASUS U56JC Battery Almost 2.5 hours are enough for most movies. The battery life first nosedives under high load. The notebook was drained after 67 minutes when the dedicated graphics unit (GeForce GT 425M) was used with maximum brightness and disabled energy savings options. Thus, you shouldn’t be hoping for a real mobility miracle with the mySN XMG A500. Nevertheless, the given battery life is superior to many multimedia notebooks.Asus NX90 Battery

The power consumption is inconspicuous in idle mode: 18.2 – 27.3 watts are typical for a multimedia device from the 15 inch category.Asus NX90JQ Battery In return, the mySN XMG A500 exploits a relatively high amount of energy under load. 69.8 – 93.0 watts are significantly over that of similarly equipped devices, such as Acer’s Aspire 5820TG. The consumption in a deactivated state is also unusually high (3.4 watts), just like in standby mode (4.6 watts). Most notebooks treat themselves to less than one watt.ASUS N45 Battery

mySN XMG A500All in all, ASUS N45E Batterythe mySN XMG A500 presents itself as a successful and extremely versatile multimedia device that will remain in good memory in many ways. Due to the moderate size, the acceptable weight and the adequate battery life, there’s nothing standing in the way of frequent transport. Outdoor use isn’t a problem because of the matt display surface. You can work pleasantly on the device due to its good input devices. Beyond that, the surprisingly good display rates ensure the user an adequate movie and gaming enjoyment – the colors don’t appear as pallid as on other matt displays.ASUS N45S Battery
