Winners:
Apple
Now that Apple has surpassed Microsoft in market value, where does it go next? How VGP-BPS22 about a sequel to the hottest-selling tablet ever, a version of the iPhone for Verizon Wireless, and a new app store made just for Macs? Apple shows VGP-BPS22A no signs of slowing down, and developers continue to pick iOS over other platforms when it comes to apps that make money. Meanwhile, Apple has become the number three PC maker in the U.S. (in terms of market share), and its Mac OS VGP-BPS9/S X Lion OS—due this summer—could vault it to an even higher position.

Google
With 300,000 Android phones activated daily, Google took the wireless world VGP-BPS13 by storm in 2010, with every carrier under the sun selling multiple Android devices. This OS is so popular that the Android Market reportedly just VGP-BPS13A/B blew past the 200,000 app mark. Now Android is making its way to tablets with a version of the software (called Honeycomb) that’s optimized for slates, and everyone from Acer and Motorola to Samsung and Lenovo will be using it to power their VGP-BPS9 devices. I’m not convinced Google’s Chrome OS for netbooks will survive, but the company deserves credit for promoting apps that can run in VGP-BPS9/B the browser.

Verizon Wireless
The carrier promised to launch the nation’s fastest VGP-BPS9A/B 4G network by the end of the year, and Verizon Wireless did just that, blanketing 38 markets and more than 60 commercial airports in lightning-fast LTE coverage. So far the network is so blazing-fast that it blows away not only the Sprint and T-Mobile VGP-BPS10 but my home and office Internet connections. Of course, Verizon Wireless is only getting started, and we expect to see a wave of 4G LTE phones, tablets, vgp-bps8 and other devices to hit the market soon. Adobe

Unfortunately, the too-big-for-a-phone/too-small-for-a-tablet Dell Streak fell flat, and the underwhelming Aero Android disappeared from Android’s lineup without anyone noticing. T-Mobile won’t even sell Dell’s Windows Phone 7 device, the Venue Pro, which has VGP-BPS2B also suffered from shipment delays. On the notebook front, we loved the sound of the XPS 15, but were disappointed by the slow touch software PA3534U-1BRS on the Inspiron Duo netbook-tablet. The company’s new tagline for 2011 is “You Can Tell It’s Dell.” Let’s hope not.

Losers
Microsoft
The good news is that Windows Phone 7 is pa3535u-1brs launched, and I believe it has most of the ingredients Microsoft needs for it to be a success. The bad news is that it’s still missing a lot of features that any smart phone OS should have in 2010, including cut and paste and multitasking with third-party apps vgp-bps21a (software updates are coming). Schon das Design der Geräte aus der Serie Acer Aspire Timeline 1810T ist für den mobilen Einsatz optimiert. Gehäuse

Das Gehäuse im Billabong-Design macht einen guten Eindruck. Obwohl das VGP-BPS2A/S komplette Gehäuse aus Kunststoff gefertigt wurde, wirkt es keinesfalls billig. Verarbeitungstechnisch sind keine Mängel aufgefallen und auch ein Knarren Akku HP 6830S beim Druck auf das Gehäuse gibt es nicht. Das Display lässt sich mit etwas Druck an den richtigen Stellen allerdings geringfügig verbiegen und auch eindrücken. Es ist nicht ganz so verwindungssteif wie man es von einigen anderen Modellen kennt. Zu Farbverfälschungen Akku Lenovo G550 auf dem Display kommt es jedoch nicht. Die Scharniere sind ausreichend hart eingestellt um das Display in Position zu halten, auch Lenovo Ideapad S12 Akku wenn man es auf den Knien abgelegt hat.

Wer knallige Farben mag, wird am Design des Dell Vostro 1320 Akku Netbooks sicherlich Gefallen finden. Das Design des Displaydeckels sticht auf jeden Fall aus der Masse der Netbook-Cover hervor. Wem das Billabong-Design dann doch nicht gefällt, hat immer noch die Chance das Sony Vaio VPC-W21C7E/G in den Akku Thinkpad X61S Farben Blau, Braun, Weiß oder Rosa zu ordern. Die Innenseite ist im Gegensatz zum Displaydeckel dann aber doch wieder eher konservativ VGP-BPS21A gestaltet worden, der silberne Korpus macht in Verbindung mit dem schwarzen Displayrahmen aber eine gute Figur. Dank der akku PA3534U-1BRS matten Kunststoff Oberflächen, die im gesamten Netbook Verwendung finden, ist das komplette Netbook sehr resistent gegen Fingerabdrücke.

Mit einer Größe von 26,8 x 18,0 x 2,8 – 3,2 Zentimetern (B x T x H) und einem Gewicht von 1,125 Kilogramm, ist das Netbook VGP-BPS8a leicht genug, um als ständiger Begleiter zu dienen. Das Netzteil dürfte mit seinen 150 Gramm in kaum einer Tasche großartig akku sony vgp-bps8 auffallen.

Eingabegeräte

Tastatur

Die Tastatur des Sony Vaio VPC-W21C7E/G VGP-BPS2 besteht aus einzelnen freistehenden Tasten (Chiclet), wie sie derzeit bei vielen Net- und Notebooks anzutreffen sind. Obwohl die Tasten metallisch wirken, sind sie trotzdem aus Kunststoff. Mit 12 x 13 Millimetern sind die einzelnen Tasten nicht besonders groß ausgefallen Sony VGP-BPS2C Akku und sorgen besonders am Anfang für einige Schreibfehler. Touchpad

Das Touchpad hingegen lässt keine Wünsche offen. Mit einer Diagonalen von knapp 7,7 Dell latitude d830 akku Zentimetern ist es ausreichend groß dimensioniert, durch den Rahmen um das Touchpad merkt man auch sofort, ob das Touchpad bereits zu Dell latitude e4300 akku Ende ist. Der Zuwachs bei den hp pavilion dv7 akku Benchmarks zwischen der Single-Core und Multi-Core Berechnung ist nicht wirklich groß. Dies liegt vor allem daran, dass der durch Hyper-Threading erzeugte zweite Thread kein wirklicher Prozessor ist und von daher nur eine geringe Leistungssteigerung akku hp compaq 6720s ermöglicht.

Spiele Fazit

Bei Spielen muss man deutliche Einschnitte hinnehmen, sofern sie überhaupt auf der Netbook Hardware laufen. Lediglich ein USB-2.0-Anschluss wurde entfernt und damit der Schnittstellenumfang geschrumpft. Gegenüber finden sich zwei Dell Vostro 1320 Akku USB-2.0-Schnittstellen und ein VGA-Ausgang, über den sich ein Monitor oder Beamer für Präsentationen betreiben lässt. Zusätzlich bietet die rechte Seite einen Hardwareschalter um die Mobiltechnologien ein- beziehungsweise auszuschalten. Dieser Schiebemechanismus ist ersetzt Akku Thinkpad X61S durch Fn-Funktionen heute nur noch selten zu finden. Die Antennen-Schnittstelle für ein DVB-T-Modul ist verschlossen, da das Einsteigermodell VGP-BPS21A nicht über das passende Mini-PCI-Express-Modul verfügt. An der Vorderseite findet sich ein 6-in-1-Kartenleser, der sich durch eine VGP-BPS13A/S umfangreiche Formatunterstützung von der breiten Maße abheben kann. Gegenüber beschlagnahmt der 8-Zellen-Akku die gesamte Rückseite des Convertibles und lässt keinen Platz für weitere VGP-BPS13A/B Schnittstellen.

Die Verteilung der Ports ist Lenovo gut gelungen, aber dies liegt vor allem am geringen Schnittstellenumfang. Warum bei diesem VGP-BPS8a Gerät auf die dritte USB-Schnittstelle verzichtet wird, ist nicht klar. Positiv zu bewerten ist der Multiformat-Kartenleser und der Hardwareschalter für die hp compaq nx6125 akku integrierten Mobiltechnologien.

Kommunikation

Neben diversen Taschen Vostro 1310 Akku und Hüllen (11,90 – 48,79 Euro) bietet Lenovo ein einfaches Headset (19,04 Euro), einen kleinen 4-Zellen-Akku (82,11 Euro), der akku P726C komplett im Gehäuse integriert ist und nicht hervor steht, optische USB-Kabelmäuse (Farbvarianten: Schwarz, Weiß – 15,47 Euro) und ein externen USB-DVD-Brenner (SlimLine) in Schwarz oder Weiß (77,35 Euro). Die Preise sind angemessen, wobei ein Preisvergleich mit akku KD476 ähnlichen Produkten sinnvoll ist.

Garantie

Innerhalb der gesetzlichen Gewährleistung (24 Monate) gewährt Lenovo eine Garantie von 1 akku XPS m1330 Jahr. Diese Garantie lässt sich nach Wunsch im Internet auf 24 oder 36 Monate erweitern, wobei die Preise bei 30,94 – 67,83 Euro Dell xps m1730 akku beziehungsweise 83,30 – 136,85 Euro liegen. Insgesamt sind die Garantieverlängerungen für dieses Gerät erschwinglich und eine Überlegung wert.

Display

Der kapazitive Touchscreen (Typ: AUO23D2) bietet eine hochglänzende Oberfläche, wodurch der subjektive Farbeindruck etwas Dell latitude d610 akku aufgebessert wird. Die Bildschirmhelligkeit aber nicht außergewöhnlichenliegt mit einem Maximalwert von 228 cd/m² im guten Bereich für ein „Netvertible“. Die Kombination aus Glare-Type-Oberfläche und durchschnittlichen Werten im Dell vostro 1500 akku Mittelfeld sind nicht die besten Voraussetzungen für einen reibungslosen Außengebrauch.

Die weiteren Bildschirmwerte sind ebenfalls Dell inspiron 1720 akku durchschnittlich. Die Ausleuchtung ist mit 85 Prozent gleichmäßig und eine Schwankung kann man mit freiem Auge nicht feststellen. Der mäßige Kontrast von 158:1, bedingt durch einen hohen Schwarzwert von 1,35 cd/m², entspricht dem Standard in dieser Akku Inspiron 1721 Geräteklasse

Unter direkter Licht- oder Sonneneinstrahlung im Außengebrauch kann man das Panel ohne akku dell inspiron 1520 Probleme als Spiegel nutzen und das Arbeiten ist nur stark eingeschränkt möglich. Die Farben verblassen rasch und der Inhalt invertiert, wodurch man den Eindruck eines Negativs akku e6500 erhält.

Geräuschemissionen

Ein Netbook beziehungsweise Convertible sollte möglichst kühl und leise arbeiten. Im Idealbetrieb bleibt der integrierte Lüfter inaktiv und Dell inspiron 6400 akku die Geräuschkulisse bleibt konstant. Unter Last arbeitet das IdeaPad S10-3t ebenfalls Dell inspiron e1505 akku sehr ruhig und bleibt mit konstant 33.1 dB(A) im grünen Bereich. Abschließend betrachtet ein sehr laufruhiges Kühlsystem mit gutem Lüfter und Kühlkörper.

Im Normalbetrieb bleibt der Lüfter im Inneren des Convertibles inaktiv und die Temperaturen sind im Bereich des Prozessors leicht erhöht. Bei akku gd761 einer Raumtemperatur von 21,1 Grad Celsius konnten wir maximal 35,7 Grad Celsius an der Unterseite messen. Eine Erwärmung an der akku m1210 Ober- sowie Unterseite ist nur minimal spürbar und es besteht kein Anlass für Kritik.

Unter Last wird die Kühlung hochgefahren und die von uns good akkus gemessenen Werte sinken. Mit einem Maximalwert von 32,5 Grad Celsius an der Unterseite bleibt das S10-3t auch hier unauffällig und alle Werte liegen im grünen Bereich. Die Handballenauflage bleibt kühl und die Ergonomie wird nicht dell akku beeinträchtigt.

Lautsprecher

Das IdeaPad bietet zwei Stereo-Lautsprecher, die sich im Bildschirmrahmen unter dem hp akkus Display befinden. Laut Lenovo sind diese Lautsprecher optimiert um eine bessere Klangqualität zu bieten. Nach diversen Liedern und Videos fällt das sony akku Fazit klar aus: die hohen Töne werden gut wiedergegeben und die maximale Lautstärke ist mehr als ausreichend. Die tiefen Töne und Bässe sind aber nicht existent.

Für die externe Audiowiedergabe wird eine 3,5-Millimeter-Klinke geboten, die auch Kopfhörer mit Dolby-Zertifizierung unterstützt. good akku Das Klangbild ist ausgewogen und ein Rauschen oder Knacken konnten wir nicht beobachten. Einen HDMI-Ausgang für den Anschluss an einen apple akku modernen Fernseher oder AV-Receiver bietet das Gerät nicht.

Tastatur

Die Tasten bieten uns einen leicht undeutlichen Druckpunkt und einen zu kleinen Akku Thinkpad X61S Tastenhub an. Das Tastenfeld federt mittig und über dem optischen Laufwerk. Zusammen entsteht ein geringfügig schwammiges Tippgefühl, Dell Vostro 1320 Akku an das sich der Schreiber aber gewöhnen kann.

Der große Ziffernblock im Standard-Layout erleichtert die Eingabe von Zahlen. Beschwerlicher ist hingegen die Bedienung der winzigen Lenovo Ideapad S12 Akku Richtungstasten, welche unter der Shift-Taste eingequetscht sind. Es hätte einen kleinen Zwischenraum geben können, doch dieser akku Dell N950C wird vom Dollar- bzw. Euro-Symbol besetzt. Die winzigen Pfeiltasten schmälern den ansonsten guten Eindruck des übersichtlichen Vostro 1310 Akku Tastaturlayouts.

Touchpad

Der Mausersatz ist ein Synaptics Multitouch Pad (V7.2). Seine Oberfläche hat dieselbe, leicht stumpfe Oberfläche wie die Handauflage. Das Pad Dell P726C akku bedient sich zügig und ist ausreichend groß. Die Tasten klicken vergleichsweise laut und hell, verlangen aber einen zu hohen Druck. Das akku KD476 macht die Bedienung etwas mühsamer als nötig.

Das Pad hat horizontale und vertikale akku XPS m1330 Scrollbars, auch wenn nur die vertikale eingezeichnet wurde. Durch die Gesten-Erkennung sind die Bildlaufbereiche aber nicht mehr zwingend notwendig, weshalb die horizontale Scrollbar im Auslieferungszustand inaktiv ist. Nutzer können mit zwei aufgelegten Fingern vertikal akku m1530 und horizontal rollen.

Display

Das matte AUO-Panel (Typ B156XW02 V3) erfreut auf Grund seiner Beschaffenheit ernsthafte Dell xps m1730 akku Büroarbeiter. Störende Reflexionen bleiben durch die Entspiegelung des Panels fern. Der 15.6-Zoller löst mit 1.366 x 768 Dell latitude d610 akku Pixeln auf. WXGA ist für einen 15.6-Zoller im Business-Einsatz eigentlich zu grob. Bildbearbeiter wünschen sich in akku Dell latitude d630 der Regel hohe Kontraste mit einer im besten Fall sehr guten Farbabdeckung. Aber solche Panels sind selten. Weder sind die Kontraste unseres Testgerätes hoch (176:1), noch der Farbraum brauchbar für professionelle Anwender (weit entfernt von Adobe RGB, sRGB). Der Ziel-Farbraum Dell studio 15 akku ist in den Diagrammen jeweils transparent (t) dargestellt. Für Profis der Bildbearbeitung ist das Panel folglich ungeeignet. Dell latitude d820 akku Dieses ist auf dem Niveau der breiten Notebook-Masse einzuordnen.
Die Messung der Helligkeit des TFTs liefert Dell latitude d830 akku nur unterdurchschnittliche Resultate. Im Durchschnitt liegt die Luminanz bei 176 cd/m². Das genügt für Innenräume, bei starkem Lichteinfall wird die Sicht aber schwierig. Für Räumlichkeiten genügen 140 bis 160 cd/m². Für den perfekten Outdoor-Genuss sollten es aber Dell vostro 1000 akku mindestens 250 cd/m² sein. Die Ausleuchtung ist mit 82 Prozent immerhin relativ gleichmäßig.

Die Bilder der Anzeige in der direkten und indirekten Sonne zeigen die erwartete Dell vostro 1500 akku Leuchtschwäche. Es fehlt die gute Sicht unter hellem und direktem Sonnenlicht, die Anzeige bleibt zu duster. Da nützt auch die matte Oberfläche Dell inspiron 1720 akku wenig. Nur im Schatten oder bei Bewölkung ist das Panel unter freiem Himmel brauchbar.

Horizontal kann das Auge bis zu 40 Grad von der frontalen Ansicht abweichen. Dann dunkelt die Anzeige ab und Farben invertieren. Schrift ist Dell inspiron 1721 akku bis zirka 50 Grad problemlos ablesbar. Vertikal beginnt der Invertierungseffekt schon bei geringster Abweichung, etwa akku dell inspiron 1520 bei 15 Grad. Im Dunkelkammer-Foto sind die kleinen vertikalen Blickwinkel des Travelmate gut erkennbar (hellgraue, akku inspiron 1521 verfälschte Bereiche). Stärkste Einschränkungen erleben wir aus seitlichem Blick von Oben oder Unten.

Emissionen

Geräuschemissionen

Ein gutes Office-Notebook, zumal eines mit geringer Leistung und ohne Grafikkarte, muss eine geringe Abwärme und eine dezente Dell inspiron 1525 akku Lautstärke haben. Das 5740Z muss sich in dieser Hinsicht etwas vorwerfen lassen. Das Auftouren auf besagte 34.6 dB(A) bei Prozessortätigkeit ist durch den großen Sprung deutlich wahrnehmbar und kommt abrupt. Die Kühlung Dell inspiron 6400 akku geht nach wenigen Sekunden des Herunterkühlens schon wieder aus. Ebenfalls sehr plötzlich kommt ein sporadisches (selten), Dell inspiron 1501 akku kurzes aber deutliches Klackern der Festplatte (34.4 dB(A)).

Bei CPU-Benchmarks dreht der Lüfter lediglich Dell inspiron e1505 akku auf bis zu 36.2 dB(A) auf. Das ist ein sehr geringer Wert, selbst für ein Office-Gerät. Im Stresstest für die Intel HD und den Pentium P6000 liegt der Maximalwert bei nur 34.1 dB(A). Wir hatten den Eindruck, dass sich der Lüfter bei konstanter Last etwas Dell xps m1210 beruhigt und deshalb leiser rotiert, als bei einem einzelnen CPU-Benchmark.

Von den Werten her macht die Lüfter-Steuerung einen guten Eindruck. Das plötzliche Aufdrehen dell akkus für wenige Sekunden, des ansonsten inaktiven Lüfters, missfällt uns aber. Besser wäre eine Kühlung, welche die ganze Zeit gemächlich vor sich good akkus hin dreht. So aber geht das An-und-Aus irgendwann auf die Nerven. Als Totschlag-Kriterium sollte es der geneigte Käufer aber nicht ansehen.

Temperatur

Die Temperaturen bleiben gering, ganz gleich ob im Leerlauf oder unter Belastung. Während Textverarbeitung und Web-Surfen liegt die durchschnittliche sony akkus Temperatur der Unterseite bei unter 30 Grad. Die Handauflage bleibt dabei mit höchstens 29 Grad im angenehmen Bereich. Die apple akkus Oberflächen des 15.6-Zollers lassen sich zu keiner Zeit zu hoher Abwärme verleiten. Mit 27 Grad handwarm wird die Arbeitsumgebung. Die Nutzung auf dem Schoß klappt ohne hp akkus Einschränkungen.

Auch bei Belastungen für die CPU gilt: Keine nennenswerten Erwärmungen. Maximal erfassen wir auf den Tasten 35 Grad Celsius. Dank der hp pavilion dv8 akku kühlen Bereiche rechts, liegt der Durchschnitt mit 31 Grad aber deutlich niedriger. Die hp compaq nx6315 akku Bodenplatte ist auch jetzt noch für den Einsatz auf dem Schoß geeignet: Maximal 35 Grad messen wir dort.

Lautsprecher

Die Stereo-Lautsprecher befinden sich über der Tastatur unter einer Leiste aus kleinen Löchern. Für einen Office-Laptop reicht das Klangbild, die Sony VGP-BPS2C Akku Akustik eines guten Multimedia-Notebooks schafft es aber bei weitem nicht. Der Klang betont die VGP-BPS2A Mitten, während Höhen und Tiefen (Bässe) vernachlässigt werden. Die Lautstärke ist relativ hoch. Wir testen die Soundausgabe mit zwei externen Yamaha Boxen (YST-M20SDP). Der vom Notebook anliegende Pegel ist recht hoch und gemäß VGP-BPS13A/S einfacher Hörprobe rauschfrei.

Akkulaufzeit

Mit knapp drei Stunden im WLAN-Test (160 Minuten, 2:40 Stunden) kann das Travelmate 5740Z ganz passabel punkten. Der 48 Wh Akku ist relativ PA3534U-1BRS schwach (4.400 mAh). Im Leerlauf hält der 15.6-Zoller 3:29 Stunden aus (209 Minuten). akku sony VGP-BPS21A/B Die mit dem BatteryEater Reader-Test ermittelte Laufzeit ist aber für die Praxis unrealistisch. Die Messung wurde im Idle, bei geringster Helligkeit und deaktivierten Funkmodulen durchgeführt. Der DVD-Film Herr der Ringe ging nach VGP-BPS21 145 Minuten (2:25 Stunden) aus. Auf einen Meister im Energiesparen weist das aber noch nicht hin. Selbst ein Core i5 hp elitebook 2530p akku Notebook wie das Toshiba Satellite Pro S500-115 liegt bei 9.5 Watt (IGP Grafik Intel HD). Die maximale Energieaufnahme, ermittelt VGP-BPS21/S begleitend zum Stresstest mit Prime95 und Furmark, liegt bei 44 Watt. Das schmale 65 Watt Netzteil (237 Gramm) ist dafür mehr als ausreichend dimensioniert.

Stromsparer sollten die relativ hohe Energieaufnahme im StandBy beachten. Im Modus „Energie akku Sparen“ benötigt das 5740Z immer noch 0.9 Watt.

Gehäuse

Die Edge-ThinkPads überraschen mit einem neuen, frischen, jedoch nach wie vor VGP-BPS13A/S schlichten Design. Sanfte Rundungen haben das kantige Design der klassischen ThinkPads abgelöst. Und es gibt neben dem typischen schwarz VGP-BPS13/Q zwei neue Farben für den Display-Deckel: Anthrazit und Rot. Einzig markant ist das ThinkPad-Logo auf der Gehäuseoberseite und auf der Baseunit. Pfiffig ist der rot leuchtende I-Punkt des Schriftzuges, welcher den Betriebszustand des Notebooks anzeigt. Auf weitere typische akku sony VGP-BPS9 Betriebsanzeigen, wie z. B. für Festplattenaktivität oder WLAN-Status, verzichtet Lenovo. Ein silberner Rahmen ziert Displaydeckel sowie Baseunit und vermittelt einen stabilen Eindruck. Leider ist es kein Metall- sondern nur akku sony VGP-BPS9/B ein Kunststoffzierrahmen. Dennoch, der Kunststoff des Gehäuses wirkt hochwertig und verleiht der Baseunit die notwendige akku sony VGP-BPS9/S Verwindungssteifheit. Der nächste Schwachpunkt am Gehäuse ist das rechte Viertel der Tastatur über dem optischen Laufwerk. Hier scheint ein Hohlraum unter VGP-BPS2A der Tastatur zu sein, denn der Bereich um die „Enter“-Taste lässt sich stark eindrücken. Das ist nicht zu unterschätzen, denn auch beim Tippen mindert Sony VGP-BPS2C Akku dies erheblich den Schreibkomfort (mehr dazu im Abschnitt „Eingabegeräte“). Die Abkehr vom ursprünglichen VGP-BPS2 ThinkPad-Design bedeutet auch die Abkehr vom „Clamshell“-Design des Displays. Und so schließt der Deckel nicht mehr so passgenau, zumal eine richtige Display-Verriegelung fehlt. Auch hier reiht sich das TP Edge in die Kette Sony VGP-BPS2B Akku der vielen Standard-Gehäuse ein.

Apropos Verriegelung: die Scharniere müssen nicht nur das Display geschlossen halten, akku sony vgp-bps8 sondern auch für guten Halt bei geöffnetem Bildschirm sorgen. Auch das gelingt dem Edge nicht so gut wie bei den höherwertigen VGP-BPS8a T-Modellen. Eingabegeräte

Tastatur

Hohe Erwartungen stellen wir an die Tastatur, denn wer „ThinkPad“ im Namen trägt, weckt entsprechende Erwartungen an den Tippkomfort. Das PA3534U-1BRS im Edge verbaute Keyboard gibt sich nun im Chicklet-Look und fügt sich ins minimalistische Design nahtlos ein. Die VGP-BPS21A Tasten haben einen geringen Hub und einen sanften, aber dennoch deutlichen Druckpunkt. Das Tastenmaterial ist angenehm hochwertig und VGP-BPS21/S schafft es sogar, einen Hauch Noblesse zu versprühen. Erfreulich groß sind die Enter-, Backspace- und Shift-Tasten. Zu klein sind hingegen die Cursortasten geraten. Besonders ungünstig sind die „Bild“-Tasten angebracht: sie befinden sich rechts und links neben dem Vostro 1310 Akku Up-Cursor. Die Tasten sind zwar vertieft angebracht, aber da die Cursortasten nur etwa die Hälfte der Größe der normalen Tasten besitzen, akku KD476 trifft man gerne die falsche.

Dennoch, wie im Abschnitt „Gehäuse“ bereits akku XPS m1330 angesprochen, hat die Tastatur einen großen Makel: im Bereich um die Backspace-, Enter- und Cursor-Tasten ist sie sehr instabil. Dieser Bereich gibt beim Tippen stark nach und die Tasten verkannten sich hin und wieder kurz. Der Hub- und Druckpunkt dieser Tasten vermatscht somit akku m1530 komplett und hinterlässt ein beinahe ekeliges Tippgefühl.

Die Hauptfunktionen der F-Tasten wurden auf die Zweitbelegung per „FN“-Taste verbannt. Geräuschemissionen

Erfreulich leise bleibt das Notebook unter geringer Last bzw. im wenig fordernden Office Betrieb. hp compaq nx6315 akku Knapp 30 dB(A) im Schnitt sind gerade einmal als zartes Surren zu vernehmen. Auch unter Last sind die Emissionswerte gut: mit 36,4 dB(A) im Stresstest bleibt der Lüfter zwar deutlich hörbar, aber noch im akkus gut erträglichen Rahmen. Ähnlich laut wird das DVD-Laufwerk. Bei einer Video-DVD beruhigt sich das Laufwerk aber bald wieder, sodass es dell akkus nicht weiter stört.

Temperatur

Weniger gut sind die Werte bei der Temperatur. Im VGP-BPS21A/BRuhebetrieb werden schon fast 40° C auf der Unterseite erreicht. Die Temperatur steigt dann dort unter Last auf nahezu 50° C – das ist schon gefährlich heiß. Die Oberseite bleibt in beiden Szenarien zwar kühler, aber alles andere als kalt. Das ist wohl der Preis für ein leises Notebook: für akku sony VGP-BPS21 eine kühleres Gerät müsste der Lüfter wesentlich mehr und häufiger drehen. Notebook buyers, what are you thinking? We all know that the main benefit of a notebook Dell Latitude 131L Battery over a desktop is its portability, yet new sales stats from Q2 show that most of you are buying giant, heavy clunkers. As a result, PC makers continue to churn out 15-inch machines no one needs, making more attractive 13- and 14-inch notebooks practically endangered.

This morning, I met with reps from MSI who told us that they Dell Vostro 1000 Battery no longer plan to release their highly-anticipated 13-inch X360 notebook in the U.S., because consumers just aren’t buying ultraportables. Instead the company told us that they are focused on the more popular 15.6-inch form factor. They’re not alone.

Just look at this preliminary data that the folks at DisplaySearch extracted for us from the Q2’10 Quarterly Advanced Notebook PC, Module, and Tablet Shipment and Forecast Report. As you can see, 15-inch notebooks remain the most popular size and ultraportables from 11 to 13 inches make up less than 12 percent of the North Dell Inspiron 6400 Battery American market. According to DisplaySearch, even the 8.7 percent share of 13-inch notebooks is deceptively high, because more than 60-percent of 13-inch systems sold in North America are MacBooks.

Europe has an even bigger appetite for large screens, while Asia is the only region that buys more 14-inch Dell Inspiron 1501 Battery systems than 15-inchers. We haven’t posted them here, but the prior five quarters have similar percentages, with the exception of the iPad, which only began shipping at the end of Q1 2010.

If we could exclude secondary devices such as netbooks Dell Inspiron E1505 Battery and tablets from these lists (everything 10-inches and below), the 15-inch category would loom even larger. Yet, despite the ubiquity of this size, it provides the worst of all notebook experiences, as it’s not large enough to enable high-res gaming or multimedia playback, nor is it small enough to go anywhere.

Big, Bulky, and Short on Endurance
Battery life is one area in which 15-inch notebooks clearly fall short. In our last year of testing at LAPTOP, the average 15-inch notebook got only 225 minutes of battery life. Compare that to 11-inch systems, which averaged 364 minutes, 12-inchers that endured for 322 minutes, or 13-inch ultraportables VGP-BPS9/B which lasted a full 338 minutes. Even 14-inch notebooks lasted an average of 264 minutes, two thirds of an hour longer than their clunky counterparts.

It goes without saying that 15-inch notebooks weigh more than VGP-BPS9A/B those with smaller screens. If you’re looking to carry a laptop around all day, you really want it to weight 5 pounds or less. The average 15-inch notebook we’ve reviewed in the past 12 months has weighed 6 pounds, with none lighter than 5.2. By contrast, the average 14-inch notebook weighed only 5.1 pounds, with the lightest weighing only 3.8 pounds. The 13-inch notebooks averaged 4.4 pounds, while 12- and 11-inchers averaged just 3.5 pounds.

Worse still, you’re not getting any significant benefit from having a larger display panel since the typical 15-inch notebook has the same VGP-BPS9 1366 x 768- pixel resolution that comes standard on 11 to 14- inch systems as well. In fact, having the same amount of pixels in a larger area makes the picture less sharp, kind of like watching standard def programming on a large screen TV.

Making the Wrong Resolution
In the past two years, panel-makers have forced vendors to switch from 16:10 aspect ratio screens to 16:9 screens VGP-BPS9/S that are cheaper to manufacture. “You can cut a 15.4-inch panel on a 16:10 aspect ratio 15 times; you can cut a 15.6-inch panel on the 16:9 aspect ratio 18 times. So on the same piece of glass, [you get] 18 panels versus 15 panels,” said said John Jacobs, Director of Notebook PC Market Research for DisplaySearch. “Your cost drops substantially, and in times of shortage, you’re increasing your throughput without really having to do a whole heck of a lot in terms of cost.”

Unfortunately, this new aspect ratio is worse for user productivity, because Studio 17 Battery it prioritizes horizontal over vertical screen real estate. Back in 2008, PC magazine Editor-in-Chief Lance Ulanoff warned that the move to 16:9 screens is bad for users because “most of our computing and content consumption on the PC is a top-down experience. Most photos are still in 4:3 format, so a shallower screen means you have to view the images at a somewhat diminished size.”

According to DisplaySearch, the transition to 16:9 is nearly complete. Preliminary worldwide sales data for Q2 of 2010 show that 55 percent Studio 1737 Battery of notebooks have 1366 x 768-pixel resolution while only 13.7 percent have the older 1280 x 800 standard. None of the other resolutions, except for the netbook standard 1024 x 600, make up even 10 percent of the market on their own.

Jacobs explained that over the past 10 years most notebook screens have clustered around a batteries common resolution to make manufacturing easier. “It went from 1024 x 768 to 1280 x 800 and now it’s 1366 x 768, so it’s just from a 4:3 to a 16:10 to a 16:9 aspect ratio. It’s really nothing more than that. There’s also integration of components so you can use the same driver ICs on a 15.4 as a 14.1 if you’re driving the same resolution. It’s in the best interest of commoditization and keeping costs down for the panel makers to have a lot of the same resolution,” he said.

Couldn’t vendors just standardize on a higher 16:9 resolution like 1600 x 900 instead of the productivity-stealing 1366 x 768? Just like the switch to 16:9, it’s all about the money. Jacobs explained that building screens with a higher pixel density raises costs and that, good battery thus far, very few users are demanding the added real estate, outside of niche groups like graphic designers and gamers.

If you haven’t thought about switching to Sprint, there are two very Dell Inspiron 6400 Battery good reasons staring you right in the face: the HTC Evo 4G and Samsung Epic 4G. As you can tell by their names, both devices can connect to Sprint’s fast 4G network (more than 50 markets and counting). However, while both of these Android phones sport 1-GHz processors and can record HD video, they’re pretty different beasts. The Evo 4G ($199) is a pure slate design with a 4.3-inch display, while the more expensive Epic 4G ($249) has a smaller but more brilliant 4-inch screen with a slide-out keyboard. And those are just some of the differences.

Yes, both of these Android superphones Dell Latitude 131L Battery are Editors’ Choice winners, but only one device can win this battle. Let’s get it on!

Design

The Epic 4G is slightly thicker than the Evo 4G (4.9 x 2.5 x 0.6 inches versus 4.8 x 2.6 x 0.5 inches), but that’s to be expected Dell Vostro 1000 Battery given that the Samsung has a slide-out keyboard. The Epic 4G is taller but narrower. Meanwhile, the Evo 4G is heavier (6 ounces versus 5.5 ounces), and you can feel this difference in your hand and in your pocket.

Still, the Evo 4G feels more like a flagship phone. It’s one solidly constructed slate, with capacitive buttons that work well and are always visible. We especially like the built-in kickstand on the back of the Evo, great for listening to music or watching movies. The glossy black front on the Epic Dell Inspiron 1501 Battery 4G is slick, but the buttons are nearly invisible when the backlight isn’t activated. Nevertheless, the Epic’s smoother contours make it fit especially comfortable when it’s being held.

Winner: Draw

The Evo 4G has a more premium feel, Dell Inspiron E1505 Battery and we love the kickstand and HDMI output, but the Epic 4G’s lighter weight and more rounded design give it equal appeal.

Display

If you went by the spec sheet alone, this would look like a pretty close matchup–the Evo 4G’s 4.3-inch screen is only marginally larger than the Epic 4G’s 4-inch screen and both phones have a resolution of 800 x 480-pixels. But when you turn these devices on, the Epic 4G’s Super AMOLED blows past the Evo 4G’s VGP-BPS9/S display. Colors were crisp and contrast levels were extremely sharp. The Evo 4G’s screen was also easily outclassed by the Epic 4G when it came to brightness–at maximum levels, images popped from the screen. The extra 0.3 inches on the Evo 4G certainly doesn’t hurt for applications like web browsing, but the difference in visual fidelity can’t be ignored.

Winner: Epic 4G.

The Super AMOLED display on this phone makes jaws drop.

Keyboard
The Epic 4G’s slide-out keyboard is what makes this phone stand out from the rest VGP-BPS9 of the Galaxy S family, and it’s pretty great. The keys are nicely spaced apart and offer good tactile feedback. We just wish typing “@” didn’t require a function key combo. However, the Epic 4G’s touch keyboard disappoints. The combination of an overly large text entry area and odd key placement scrunches together all of the onscreen keys, making it tough to accurately type. Fortunately, the inclusion of Swype software makes it easy to type words with one hand just by tracing your finger from one letter to the next.

The Evo 4G’s keyboard makes the most VGP-BPS9A/B of its large screen. The screen size makes it easy to type with minimal errors, and we like how you can press and hold various keys to enter special characters like numbers. Just be sure to turn off the haptic feedback; it slows down the typing experience.

Winner: Epic 4G

While the Evo 4G has one of the better touch keyboards around, the Epic 4G’s physical QWERTY is the best we’ve used on a good battery slider and is one of the main reasons to get this device compared to other Galaxy S phones. You never have to wonder whether you just typed the right letter.

Remember the iRiver Story? That slim and cute 6-inch eReader that the company showed Dell Inspiron 6400 Battery off at CES this year but which never launched in the U.S. That wasn’t a huge surprise as the eReader market here is getting pretty cutthroat. If you can’t deliver 3G or Wi-Fi or touch or something else to differentiate your product along with a sub-$200 or, even better, a sub-$150 price point, then perhaps it’s better to not bother. That’s why I have little hope of seeing the new iRiver Cover Story hit U.S. shelves even though it has several great features, many not seen on popular models.

I’m disappointed that the Cover Story probably Dell Latitude 131L Battery isn’t coming to the U.S. because of its functionality beyond eBook reading. The device can read several book and document formats including EPUB, PDF, TXT, Word, Excel and even Power Point, which is more than most mainstream eReaders can handle. In addition to playing MP3, WMA and OGG audio files, the Cover Story will also record voice memos
in MP3 format.

The Wi-Fi version will incorporate an e-mail app that can pull and send emails from over 3 different POP accounts. Via the Dell Vostro 1000 Battery e-mail app users can send their notes, memos, highlights and more from within books as an attachment. While it’s just a screenshot and not actual text, I can see several uses for this function. This feature-set isn’t as robust as what Plastic Logic promised with the Que, but I can see this device being very useful for the business market.

As you can see from the hands-on pics, the display has some issues with reflection. That’s because Dell Inspiron 1501 Battery of the layer over the e-ink screen that makes touch possible — a problem the last generation of Sony Readers suffered from. Contrast appeared pretty deep and the screen was definitely readable, but that reflective thing can be really distracting, especially in the sun. Beyond that, I found the touch screen decently responsive when tapping within menus, selecting text, and drawing in the memo area.

The 6.6 x 5.0 x 0.5 inch device is pretty light — just 9.9 Dell Inspiron E1505 Battery ounces — and has the same 6-inch screen as the Story and just about every other mainstream eReader. The Cover Story has a smaller footprint since it’s touch-based and thus needs fewer buttons. The buttons it does have are mostly on the top and left edges except for a multi-use button/bar on the front left. With this you can turn pages by flipping it forward or back (similar to the iRex DR800SG) and access the Home and Back functions.

The Cover Story is so named because it comes standard with a plastic cover, just like the PocketBook 360. They each have an attractive Sony VGP-BPS8 Battery checked design and come in White, Blue Silver, Lime Green, Hot Pink, Baby Pink, Beige and Titan to match the eReader’s color choices. But there may be an opportunity to buy decorative or skinned covers in the future similar to the wall display at iRiver’s IFA booth.

Another similarity to the PocketBook 360 is the built-in G-sensor that will automatically flip the orientation sony VGP-BPS9/B Battery in all four directions. So whether you’re right or left handed, you can use your dominant hand to turn pages. I heartily approve of this approach.

The two biggest drawbacks of the Cover Story are the big ones: Sony VGP-BPS9A/B Battery performance and price. While it’s not a total slug, the device didn’t react instantly to taps or button presses, took longer than I liked to load screens and open books, and turned pages in about 2 or 3 seconds. Long enough to notice, not long enough to be ridiculous. Still, that’s a big problem for an eReader that costs over 200 euro, and that’s without the Wi-Fi. The price on that version isn’t set yet, but either way both are more expensive than the Kindle and Nook. Yes, it includes features those competitors don’t have, but are they enough to draw consumers away?
